Pros:The best book I ever read (and may be will read).
Cons:(absent)
The Bottom Line: To read.

About what this book?

Quiet a lot things are collected in it: rural life of russian Cossacks, the First World War, fratricidal slaughter of civil war 1917-1922 years in Russia, beautiful nature of Don steppe and tragic love of main character. Book contains a lot of details, and you steeping into feeling of those long-ago days and understand more about causes of that historical events. But after I had read "And Quiet Flows the Don" I asked myself: "What the main idea of this book?". And to my surprise I realize that the main idea for my is Buddhism sentence "The whole life is suffering".

My scanty english doesn't allow me to express all I want to write, but I hope that somebody will write better review and you, dear reader, get this book in your hands to read a little.
