The Bottom Line One time only...

Yeah, I'm back. Enjoy it for now cuz it ain’t gonna last. I actually came back specifically for this W/O as I saw Big D fill out something similar a while back, so I did the same. So this really isn’t new material. Consider it The Lost Tapes

Not all of my songs are hip hop oriented.

Opening Credits: It’s Mine by Mobb Deep and Nas

A tribute to one of my favorite movie’s Scarface. Except this it has three of my favorite rappers spitting ill lyrics over the sampled production. I don’t know why I love the beat so much, I guess it just has that Vice City vibe to it.

Waking Up: Riders on the Storm by The Doors

First darkness... then rain... then thunder... then Ray Mazarek's soft keyboard melody sets a depressing tone to start the day off with. This is one of the finest tracks The Doors ever did, and it's not hard to see why. Jim Morrison's vocals are nothing crazy here, just words from a guy who knows his days are numbered.

Average Day: Santeria by Sublime

Pretty much sums up my life. Over a somber arrangement, I have to reassure myself day in and day out that everything’s gonna by okay, even though I know it isn’t. A great solo by the late, great Bradley Nowell adds a lot of bittersweet happiness to this track.

First Date: You Don’t Know My Name by Alicia Keys

Man I remember when this came out and there was this bangin senior that I always wanted to get with but never had the courage to ask. Probably cuz I didn’t have an automobile at the time, and you know how that is. Well the joke here is that, like Alicia in the video, I just hear this song and fantasize what our first date would of been life. Pathetic, I know, but brutally honest as well.

Falling In Love: Through the Fire by Chaka Kahn

No not Wire, by that idiot @ss clown Kanye West, but the 80s soul classic. This song has the great sound of Wire, but isn’t about a stupid car accident. It’s just one of those tracks you hear and your heart melts, and your knee’s get shaky. It’s the song that you wanna hear in the background when you stare at your lover’s beautiful eyes and realize that she is the one.

Love Scene: Up N Da Club by 2nd II None

Ha! I’ve always wanted to bust this song out. In case you’ve never heard this classic track by this joke of a group, let me give you the 411. It’s produced by the legendary DJ Quik, and it’s just one of those soft funky club tracks. Also it’s a great song to make out, and ermm do other stuff to.

Fight Scene: Ante Up by MOP

How can you not get pumped up the this track? The blaring horns, and the insane screaming in this song lay the perfect dropout for me to kick the living sh!t out of someone as I so often do, cuz I’m just bad like that. Also it brings out the killer inside of you that makes you want to stop a mudhole in your foe while they’re down.

Breaking Up: Send in the Clowns by Frank Sinatra

“This is a song about a couple of adult people who have spent, oh, quite a long time together, till one day one of 'em gets restless and decides to leave. Whether it's the man or woman who left is unimportant.
It's a breakup.” This one is really painful for me to write in. When I first heard this track I thought it would be the perfect breakup song.... unfortunately I was right. After I lost the love of my life at the time, I couldn’t help but play this song over and over as tears slowly rolled down my face.

Getting Back Together: Unconditional Love by 2pac

It’s just one of those songs where you show up at your lover’s door and she just falls into your arms. Pac may not have been the greatest, but this was one of my personal favorites. The lyrics sum up the moment pretty well too.

Secret Love: Can’t Let You Go by Fabolous

C’mon people, this is obvious. The one time I did cheat I would play this song and think I was pimp. Stupid kids.

Life's OK: Feelin it by Jay-Z

Out of all the classic’s on Hova’s debut this always stands out to its feel good nature. The video says everything about this song: Jay, his boys, and beautiful babies living it up on a huge yacht. I can raise my champagne glass to this tune and toast to the good life.

Mental Breakdown: Summer Overture by Chronos Quartet

The horrifying main track off the most disturbing film Requiem for a Dream. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I really wouldn’t recommend it for the shock value might be too much for some people. The Quartet puts together an ensemble that makes you feel like all hell is breaking loose. Violins from hell possess this track. Mass confusion and nightmare personification is what I feel when this track is playing

Driving: Woke Up This Morning by Alabama 5

The real theme song to the Sopranos, gave me the inspiration to play this track while I drive. I think I played this song every single morning in my car while I drove to school. It is simply awesome, and it really wants to make you smoke a cigar, or run someone over. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Learning A Lesson: You’re Da Man by Nas

Large Professor provides the perfect theme to ponder things over on the classic track off Stillmatic. While Nas painfully apologizes about selling out, I do some contemplating over my own problems. Definitely a personal favorite track of mine, as it provides some sentimental meaning.

Deep Thought: Watch Dem N*ggaz by Nas

Not a classic song by any means, but it certainly gets me relaxed and day dreaming. The soft, mysterious production along with Nas’ butter smooth flow keeps me well in tune with the music. Listen to Foxy’s hook, I mean really listen to what she says. It could save your life.

Flashback: Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve

Before the pathetic excuse of a remake Cruel Intentions overexposed this song, I was completely is awe of it. I have many flashbacks that come across my mind, some great and others not so good. It doesn’t help that one of my ex-girl friends looks like Reece Witherspoon and we used to watch Cruel Intentions together. I whine a lot, don’t I?

Partying: Big Papa by Biggie Smalls

I’ve yet to be to a party where this track doesn’t come on. And each and every time it does, the party comes to life. The drinks start to taste a little bit better, the females start to look better, and all of a sudden you think you’re a smooth operator. Gonna be in for a huge shock in the morning.

Happy Dance: Back Dat @ss Up by Juvenile

Just another one of those songs that brings life to everyone. Not to mention that most drunk chicks LOVE this song, and aren’t afraid to show it. A great song to bump and grind to, and one of those tracks that enables you to ignore the fact that one of the worst rappers ever is performing it.

Regretting: Regrets by Jay-Z

Another classic track from Reasonable Doubt, though this one isn’t nearly up tempo as the aforementioned. The beat is absolutely perfect, though I’m sure you all knew that. It really sets the mood for those times that you’re really feeling bad about yourself for something you’ve down. But like Jay says, you gotta learn to live with regrets.

Long Night Alone: Mind Made Up by 2pac

Daz Dillinger supplies one of those beats, that you want to be alone when you hear it. I really can’t appreciate the beauty of this track when other people are in the room and talking loudly over it. Many potent emcees show up here, and their flow and lyrics go hand in hand with the brilliant production. I can’t get enough of it when Meth goes ”Let it riide, tonight’s the night...” Ill.

Death Scene: The End by The Doors

Why? Because it’s The End. Every time I hear this song, I can paint a vivid picture of my head of a man walking along slowly, with his hands in his pockets, knowing he’s about to meet his destiny. The song is a beast of track as it is 10 minutes long, so it appears that I have a long walk ahead of me.

Closing Credits: My Way by Frank Sinatra

As I breathe my last breath, this track comes on with the screen fading to black to the credits. I feel that this song is important to be the final one, because I want the whole world to know that I did things My Way. I can relate to just about everything Frankie sings about in the song, such as overcoming adversity, silencing the critics, and trying to come terms with yourself. Can I do all those things? I don’t know, but one thing’s for sure, I did it my way.

Okay, back into retirement!

BONUS!!!

Entering Paradise: Bitter End by Imahori Tsuneo

This song is from one of my favorite animes Gungrave, which by the way is one of the saddest shows that I have ever seen. Tsuneo composes a classic as a lovely Spanish acoustic sets the stage for a violin to cry over. Hearing this song always makes me feel like I'm in some meadow and I'm seeing people that left my life a long time ago. I'll finally find heaven...
