A major disappointment

I moved into my new house less than two years ago and bought almost all new appliances from KitchenAid, given its brand name and reputation. The cooktop turned out to be a nightmare. About 8 months after the purchase, the triple-ring element, which was most often used, was dead. Luckily it was under the one-year warranty. KitchenAid sent over a technician and installed a new switch for free. However, after several months, the new switch broke again and we were out of warranty. We had to limit our cooking to the remaining three elements. Just a couple of month ago, the dual-ring element died also! So what we have now is just the two low power single-ring elements. Meanwhile, my friend's cheap GE has been used for almost three years without a single issue.

I'm now actively investigating to buy a new one (not KitchenAid of course) and throw away this piece of junk.
