The Bottom Line Let's toast me, I mean the champagne not the toaster!
To commemorate my 100th review, I decided to stick with my roots and do another Write-off, this one about us here at epinions and our personal epinion stats and factoids. Please be as complete as you wish and I look forward to reading many reviews. See ya at 200!
Member Name and meaning behind it (if there is one)
I chose the name romasuave, it was a nickname given to me by a lady I was dating for a brief period of time. It is a take-off of the 90s Spanish pop hit “Rico Suave” sung by Gerardo.
Date I joined Epinions
June 5, 2003, 10 days shy of my 29th b-day.
How I stumbled upon Epinions
I think I was heavy into survey sites and sites that pay for reading emails and visiting links. Epinions was one of those sites listed and I really got hooked on it from the get-go because the emphasis is not about the money, it’s about a community sharing opinions that helps us decide what or what not to purchase.
Number of member visits
As of the 18th, broke the 5000 barrier, 5027.
Number of total visits
36,715, look out million, here I come!
My very first review (with link and description)
A review of Finding Nemo, it got 22 member and 80 visitor visits and earned a whopping penny. Originally it received a “somewhat helpful” rating but through knowledge and helpful user comments I revised it to a “VH” rating. Thanks Epinions! (smile, tooth sparkle, a wink and a thumb up)
The 3 favorite reviews that I’ve written (with links)
I could have gone nuts with this questions and ask for 10, but I want others to still like me and not whine about how long it took them to think and search out 10 reviews, so I narrowed it down to 3. These are mine:
1. An ode to my wife
2. Top 10 Spoofs Ever
3. What’s My Porn Name W/O
I like #1 because it’s the actual ending of my wedding speech. All of those attending were on the floor laughing. I thought I would give it a whirl on Epinions first and see what other thought of it.
#2 is a top 10 list of comedies along with memorable lines from them, I as well as a few of my readers really got a kick out of the great lines in this list.
#3 is my most enjoyable W/O and the one that got the most participants. It was unique and I really took the time to think about the rules and read as many of the other entries I could.
My most complete review
Kodak CX7430. I felt I covered all the features as completely as possible and I did take a while to set up and complete the review. I think the result speaks for itself.
My most successful Write-Off (If I wrote one, include link)
As mentioned above, What’s My Porn Name W/O. it got 250/1740 hits, earned me $0.19, at last count I had 63 participants. The deadline has long passed, but I would love to see some other entries just for the heck of it. In a related review, What’s My Porn Name Results Review is a fun read also, especially if you have a sick sense of humor and enjoy the occasional double entendres (Yeah I’m talking about you Lori ‘drdevience’ Julie '42ENGLISH’ and Julia ‘jbsassypants’.)

There have been so many over the past couple of years, most recently it would have to be 42ENGLISH’s Unisex Beauty W/O and three_ster’s Food Lover’s W/O
My most lucrative review (with link and $$$ earned)
Family Guy - Vol 1 DVD. This one earned me $3.41.
Things I like most about Epinions
I love to write and I like to brainstorm reviews when I have the time, it releases tension and keeps me focused on a task, and as I get older I feel that’s important. I enjoy meeting and conversing with many other members who enjoy writing as well, I like to use my raunchiness and sarcasm to get my messages across and I like checking new reviews that I write and see how many rating I have received.Earning a few pennies ain’t too bad either.
Things I dislike most about Epinions
I hate members with a hidden agenda to ruin a perfectly good review with a ridiculous rating. Some of us have experienced a hidden member recently that has been giving a “SH” rating while countless others rated the reviews “VH”. If you are to give a low rating you HAVE to explain the reasoning behind it, it’s only fair, don’t hide behind a link like a punk!
Members I admire most on Epinions
This list is not limited to these reviewers, it just represents a small portion of those I admire (nice save, don’t you think?). I admire members like bryan_carey for his consistency and longevity, writing over 1500 reviews and stephen_Murray for approaching the 1000 mark. I admire members like metalluk for writing such elaborate and concise reviews each time around. I admire jbsassypants, drdevience, jchapkovich, 42ENGLISH for getting to know me, make me laugh and read about some incredible personal experiences they have overcome. Pretty much, if you on my WOT you are a friend and admired by yours truly.
My ultimate goal at Epinions
To make as many friends as I possibly can, to perfect my writing style and eventually become an advisor, top reviewer or even a lead.
