My First Write Off... and Learning What a WO is

The Bottom Line I’m a total newbie and have written a grand total of ten reviews. This is also my first WO.

Actually, it wasn't until I was about half way through reading Romasuave's original that I realized what a write off is.

My Name and Where it Came From

Glowsw is not my first online identity. I'm not sure I even remember my first online identity actually. I think it was something making fun of one of my friends in middle school. But I've had Glowsw for years now. Eight I think. And I like it, it's comfortable, my friends all know it, and it comes from the name of a My Little Pony. Seriously. I'm a hardcore pony collector (and I mean the toys from the 80's, not the ones they're releasing now). Glow was one of my favorite ponies. The SW part is a little more mysterious and could mean a couple of things. And I like mystery so I'll leave it at that.

Date I Joined

Well, I actually joined June 3, 2004 but I didn't start writing reviews until this summer. I was still in college when I joined and all of my writing energy went to classes. During the summer? Forget it, I didn't write a thing.

How I Found Epinions

It was my boyfriend's fault actually. I lied when I said that I didn't write during the summer. I used to keep a Movie Blog (well I still sort of do over at Modblog) and he suggested I turn my little blurbs into actual reviews and maybe get a little $ for them. I thought about it, I joined, and then I didn't bother to ever write anything.

But then I was really bored this summer and looking for something new to do. And I decided to actually try writing something this time. So here I am.

Number of Member Visits

Ha, well, nothing to compare to anyone, but yeah. Remember I'm a newbie!

So far I've had 181 member visits. That gets higher the more reviews you have, right?

Total Visits

It's a little higher than my member visits: 451

My Very First Review (because there have been so many)

My very first is a review of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I'm not really sure what made me decide to write that particular review, I think it was all just coincidence. I had just seen the movie and that day I decided to start writing on Epinions. So that was the material I had to work with. I think it's an all right review. It's gotten a VH rating but I think that my reviews have gotten a bit more comprehensive and I know that they've certainly gotten longer.

My Three Favorite

I have so many to choose from! How will I ever decide! Actually, with 10 it's hard enough to pick. I can't imagine choosing from 100. Or even 50 for that matter. Didn't Romasuave mention thinking about making this a top ten list? Why couldn't he have gone with that? I would have been set!

Oh well, top three (they're all movie reviews. I'm a film person, what do you expect?)
1. Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) I's not my best review but I love the movie and I like that I'm able to spread the word about it, even if it's only just a little bit.
2. My Kiki's Delivery Service review. It was the first one I wrote that I feel is really solid and I think I managed to say everything I wanted to about the movie.
3. The one I wrote on The Butterfly Effect I guess. It's hard to really pick. But this was my first, and I think only, review really bashing something. And it can be fun to be negative. I mean that in a good way.

I'm not really sure if those are my three favorite, but that's close enough.

Completeness

Hm, well, like I said, I think my Kiki's review is pretty solid. If I had to pick another I think I would go with the one I wrote on the first DVD of the anime series Witch Hunter Robin. Again, I think I said everything I had to say and covered all of the important things that needed covering.

My Most Successful Write Off

Ha, well, considering I just figured out what one was this morning... hasn't so much happened yet.

My Favorite W/O I've participated in

This one! Seriously. Er, there are no others to choose from.

The Review That Made Me Rich

$0.26! It's a fortune! That would be from my Batman Begins review.

Things I like Most about Epinions

Well considering I'm a total nerd, I just love having a place where I can share my writing. I love to write and here I have an outlet. I'm also enjoying the community that I'm discovering here, although I don't really feel that I'm completely a part of it yet.

Things I like Least

I was going to say nothing. But then one of those stupid moving ads made my computer act like it had indigestion again. They were never a problem when I had an Ethernet connection... I've been spoiled.

Others I admire most on Epinions

Well, I'm really still just meeting people but I really appreciate everyone who has made me feel welcome here. Every time I get a positive comment on one of my reviews it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That's really not an exaggeration.

My Ultimate Goal

Really I just want to write. And if I happen to point someone in the direction of a movie I love (since film is my passion) and they like it, then that's an added bonus. I want to spread the love!

And yeah, to add a link back to the original: {{{{{{_Celebrate Romasuave's 100th: My...Own...Personal...Epinions...W/O_}}}}}}

This was fun! Thanks!
