Yes I remember "Slam Books". Mostly the girls made them in our school to pass amoung themselves but they sometimes would pass one to a couple guys but not often.
I read your posting just now on "Croks". It's really funny that I had never heard of them or seen one before yesterday myself. I was in the Hospital going to a medical appoinment and my wife pointed them out to me through the gift shop window. There must have been 40 different colors of them, she said she wanted to get a few of them. I said that they do look really cool why don't you go in and get some but I then saw the price was $29.00 and I told her, there is no way you're paying that much for them.
Later that day we were in Walgreen's drugstore and they have them for only $8.95 and I told her that is a much, much better price.
Thank's for dropping by, talk to you again soon.

I found this int'g actually-we did Slam books in h.s.(1961) each page had a question and you would have an assigned # we'd pass it around and filling our info-don't know why but it does give a glimpse into a persons personae...I guess odd things amuse me

Re: Your - Thanks Barbara (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
As a matter of fact I did finally get it working but I lost a ton of information doing it. My PC froze up so bad I could not do anything at all so I had to go to my last resort and re-install windows and everything else from scratch. I added a new POP-UP stopper that is the best I have ever used in the last 6 years that is about 98% effective. Not only pop-ups, pop-unders, adware, spyware and much, much more. Anyway Im not sure when I will return to Epinions full-time to post I do visit all-most every day to read a few others postings. I have been going through a lot of pain and discomfort the last 6 months that resulted in surgery last month to remove part of my colon.
I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and then sent to a rehab center after that. I was just sent home on 18 July from the rehab center I was in for 1 week because the insurance company didn't want to pay for it anymore. I am on in-home house care and bed rest for about 3 weeks. I still do have pain off and on from my surgery and open wound that they want to close up in about 2 weeks. I am still very, very weak and I sleep a lot. I have to get around on a 2 wheel-rolling walker. My open wound has to have its bandage changed every day. I would love to already be back to work as I am very bored but I am so tired and weak I know I would not be any good to anyone yet? My Doctors know what is best for me and I have a lot of them taking care of me. I cant believe how many Doctors I have to watch over me and check in with.
Anyway I hope I didnt bore you too much with my problems. Its great to hear from an old Epinions buddy/friend again.

Re: Hi Ron! - Well, well, well (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
Sorry to hear that you are having problems as well. I have tried so many things over the last 4 to 5 weeks on my PC it's not funny. I tried to re-load Windows 98 on my PC but it won't let me do that because of some file it says I have and need to DELETE. I started deleting stuff left and right on my PC but could not find anything that would stop it from working
I tried re-installing Norton but it will not re-install again because of a missing file, oh that's rich (LOL) I just finished deleting a TON of files. Anyway last Thursday night I spent 4 hours deleting files and trying different things and still could not find the problem. I rebooted and had a problem stating up windows.
I also could not do a lot of things on my PC any longer, view clips, hear sound, and I could not do anything in any of my Email programs. I could not Delete, move, compose or anything but read emails. Friday some of my functions were mysteriously back. Saturday more functions were back and I had no more email problems.
Sunday I got almost all of the remaining problems fixed by themselves mysteriously. I still get an error when I have too many windows open at the same time for 2 hours and have to reboot. But everything else seems to be okay and I even DO NOT get anymore pop-ups until about that 2-hour mark after I get that first error message. Its like GOD said okay he has had enough FUN fighting his PC for a few months now everything get better?
As far as you pop-up problem Im not sure which one is better than the others because I have tried every free one available at www.download.com and they all have problems/faults or some kind or still let too many pop-ups through. I have one on my PC that I have used for 3 years now that works fairly well as it stops more pop-ups than any I have tried but is still only about 90 to 95% effective. I cannot remember if I paid for it or not but I got it from www.panicware.com and it is called just plain pop-up stopper. Hope this helps you a little?

Well, it is certainly nice to know what you like to look at! lol! (just kidding). Hey, I have been having trouble with my pc too. I am thinking about just deleting everything and starting over. It makes me cry just to think of all of that hard work. If you have any good ideas for my pop-ups, please email me. Thanks, take care, Eva

You win the prize! Not only for being my favorite answers, but for having the most items in the bathtub/shower. You know, if you were working with a Mac computer, you wouldn't have all of those downloading problems!
Take care,

I appreciate your assistance. I am however tapped out for money right now.
In the past 30 days I have bought NORTON 2005, STOPZILLA, a new router, a new Ethernet card, A new Mouse and new PC cable wire. The last 3 were for my wifes PC so it could access the Internet as well. I just dont feel like putting out any more money for a good while on something that is NOT a 100% sure fire bet. Besides it being frustrating, upsetting and causing a ton of extra work Im about ready to chuck the stupid thing and just use my wifes PC!

I had similar problems and AdAware and Spybot didn't work for me either. What I had to do was buy the Norton Internet Security Bundle (which came with Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security and some e-mail checker in one program). When I ran that on my computer, some of my problems were fixed (and it also automatically ran in the background of my comp, stopping viruses before they could affect it).
But if Norton doesn't work for you, I suggest buying the Webroot Internet Essentials package, which includes a few programs that get rid of spyware effectively, stop pop-ups from coming onto your computer, and deep cleans your operating system and browsers.
I hope these suggestions work out,
Keelen

I appreciate your assistance and information but I have had that program on my PC for almost a year now. It will not work on my PC for some strange reason it processes up to about 75% then stops processing then freezes my PC up. I have even uninstalled Adware and re-downloaded again but still not working on my PC only it seems?
I have also tried Spybot but spybot does NOT find them all and besides it downloads 15 spyware programs of it's own when it runs. I have to find them and DELETE them manually.
I assume my PC is effected so bad with a virus or worm it doesn't allow NORTON, SPYBOT, ADWARE, STOPZILLA or any other program to work properly on my PC.

Your PC problem - (Reply to this comment)
by bob_tomato
Ron -
based on your description of the pop up ads that take over your computer, I would strongly suggest that you take the time to download Lavasoft's "Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06"
This program searches your computer for known spyware and advertising files that are most likely the cause of the problem you are experiencing, and then you can quarantine or delete those files which should eliminate the problem. Running Ad-Aware on a regular basis will help to keep the problem from recurring.
You can download the freeware version from many places; I suggest CNET myself...

Me wuv that song!!!
Takes me back to my senior year of high school.
At the time when I first heard it, I was sweet on a guy named Ron, would you believe!?!
The biggest squeak toy I've ever come across was one I got as a shower gift when Chuck (our then-minister) and his wife, Anne, were expecting little Hannah.
It was a schmoo, and could it ever squeal!
You'd hug it, and it would give this long squeal that would go up the musical scale.
When you let it go, it would squeal down the musical scale.
Hannah ended up loving it so much that Chuck would have to hide it somewhere for a couple of days at a time just to save what was left of his sanity. LOL
But that squeak toy was probably as big as a beagle hound.
It's a wonder that it still squeaked by the time that I presented it to them, because my then-boyfriend, Charlie, and I had been playing with it like a couple of two-year-olds (We were 27 and almost 33 at the time, but we never grew up!).
Charlie and I could entertain ourselves for a long time doing things such as quacking melodies Donald-Duck-style.
You know that drum song that was played when the body of JFK was being marched down the street?
We loved to quack that song as a duet!
Thanks for bringing back some really neat memories!
Love,
AJ :o)

I do, too--and, somehow, I wasn't at all surprised to find out that Ron has one of those little squeakers!
I give a mean back massage! If we're ever at the same M&G, I'd be glad to give you one--unless your wife would decide that it was grounds for divorcing you and/or catfighting me!
Hugs!

Thanks very much for your comments Jan. I guess because I can't stay outside very long I'll never get rid of this stuff or problem?
I also forgot to mention whenever I install the NEW 2005 version of NORTON it makes my PC run, very, very, very SLOW. Bo previous years versions caused me any problems that the 2005 version is causing me. You may be better off in shopping around for a different Company, maybe McAfee?

Ron, I was supposed to have Norton to the end of the month and it shut down many days ago and asked me to resubscribe. Think I'll wait. About your psoriasis and sores, it's because you don't get any sunlight. Will emphasize that in my next book review.
