Hand me those Kleenex, will ya? (Some Sad Songs for Alexdg1)Jul 24 '05 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line .... You know how we women are. We love to have a good cry. Sometimes it's brought on by some sappy movie or maybe by a Nicholas Sparks book. It is the songs, though, that make us boo-hoo the longest and the strongest. Alex wants to get us all teary-eyed with the music that rips our souls apart. You realize that you owe me a box of Kleenex now, don'tcha, Alex? The first song that came to my mind with this topic was done by a favorite artist of mine, Cher. I remember singing this song over and over when I was going through an emotional divorce. If I Could Turn Back Time I don't know why I did the things I did I don't know why I said the things I said Pride's like a knife, it can cut deep inside Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes I didn't really mean to hurt you I didn't wanna see you go I know I made you cry ~~~~~~~~~ This next song was performed by the wonderful Smoky Robinson and the Miracles. One of the hazards of having a sense of humor is on the occasion that other people may not realize when you are being completely serious. Tears of a Clown Now if there's a smile on my face, it's only there tryin' to fool the public, but when it comes down to foolin' you; Now honey, that's quite a different subject. But don't let my glad expression give you the wrong impression. Really I'm sad. I'm sadder than sad. You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad. Like a clown I pretend to be glad. ~~~~~~~~~~ Being a fan of Abba, (keep your scoffing to yourself), I couldn't help include this one. It's had me in tears more times than I could count. One Of Us One of us is crying One of us is lying In her lonely bed Staring at the ceiling Wishing she was somewhere else instead One of us is lonely One of us is only Waiting for a call Sorry for herself, feeling stupid feeling small ~~~~~~~~~ Harry Nilsson makes me cry every time with this one. Without You I can't live if living is without you I can't live, I can't give any more Can't live if living is without you I can't give, I can't give any more No, I can't forget this evening Or your face as you were leaving But I guess that's just the way the story goes You always smile but in your eyes your sorrow shows Yes, it shows Can't live if living is without you I can't live, I can't give anymore I can't live if living is without you Can't live, I can't give anymore ~~~~~~~~~~~ Last, but not least, is the one I find myself singing the most often lately. He knows who he is. It is by the wonderful Diana Ross... Someday We'll Be Together Someday we'll be together Say, say, say it again Someday we'll be together Oh, yeah, oh yeah You're far away From me my love And just as sure my, my baby As there are stars above I wanna say, I wanna say, I wanna say Someday we'll be together Yes we will, yes we will Say, someday (some sweet day) we'lll be together I know, I know, I know, I know Although I thought of including this Beatles classic instead..... Why don't we do it in the road? Why don't we do it in the road? Why don't we do it in the road? Why don't we do it in the road? No one will be watching us Why don't we do it in the road? That one gets to me every time. ~~~~~~~~ Well, Alex, you have me sitting here in a ball of pity, crying my eyes out. Send me that new box of Kleenex as soon as you can, ok? You may want to pick up some extra boxes when I tell folks that they can read all of the entries right here. Thanks for letting me join in....I think....sniff.... 8-) ~~Nedi~~ |
