Pros: Amazing sound quality. Designed and built with the "no holes barred" mentality.
Cons: Hard to read display in sunlight. Volume controls are finnicky when cold.
The Bottom Line: Even though I no longer work in the industry and now pay full price for equipment, I would not think twice about buying this again.

| jcesl2's Full Review: Sony CDX-C90 CD Receiver Camcorder |
Let me start by saying that as a former employee of a car audio shop, I've heard, demo'd, and compared numerous CD decks. And this one is by far the best sounding I have ever heard. (Only exceptions would be the Pioneer ODR and Sony XES systems. One of which is discontinued and had no CD player, and the other costing more than most people's cars.)
Anyway, I have had my C90 for 3 years since it first came out. It replaced the previous model CDX-C910 which I also loved. It has some great features, including ESP (you can literally drop the deck from 2 feet up and it won't skip), digital out, 2 remotes, angled face, CD text, and with a changer hooked up CD titling. there are many more, but these are the ones I use the most. It's built on a copper chassis to prevent noise, the components for the LCD display hang off the back of the unit... you don't hear interference from your car with this thing.
When I was deciding on a new deck, I compared this to the McIntosh Cd player, Pioneer P1-R, and the Clarion 9475. The only one that came close was the McIntosh and that unit has NO features at all. I know 4 people with the C90, and all of them would agree with me. If you want numbers, this deck has the lowest THD rating on the market, and as far as I know still the highest signal to noise ratio out there.
The only complaints I have are the display and the volume control. When it is cold outside when I first get in my car, the volume control doesn't always work correctly. Almost everyone agrees about the display. But all you have to do is close your eyes and listen. You'll forgive the C90 for just about everything.
