The Bottom Line Thanks for letting me crash this write-off with no invitation!!
I'm never sure if your supposed to get an invitation to a write-off, but I'm entering this one because I want to get on my soap box later on!! Thanks to Romasuave's 100th: My...Own...Personal...Epinions...W/O Member Name and meaning behind it (if there is one): krus54 is my Epinions member name. Stands for Kids R us and my birth year (date is 5/18). So now you know when to send me birthday cards...hmmm. the heck with the cards. Now you know when to send me presents and I'll gladly take cash or credit cards. :-) Date I joined Epinions: Dec 20 '99. And as you will see by the total member visits and total visits I'm not exactly a familiar face to a lot of people. Epinions doesn't pay much anymore, so ask me if I care? hee hee How I stumbled upon Epinions: Don't remember. Just that it was an offer via some email from a web site I was registered on (Mypoints.com, maybe??) I was offered a start-up of $10 in my account. A few years ago I was a king of getting freebies from the web when startup dotcoms were offering lots of free stuff. Number of member visits: As of today, 3,096 Number of total visits: As of today, 58,059. Yikes! So many visits....(not) My very first review (with link and description): Odyssey:The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly? The 3 favorite reviews that I’ve written (with links): 1. When is Jenn-Air not a Jenn-Air? There were over 11,000 visits on that one. For the 2nd and 3rd, please read, rate, and then let me know!!! My most complete review: Not sure, you guys let me know my best and worst! My most successful Write-Off Never started one! Favorite W/O I participated in (with link): I've only participated in Write-offs that I really like, so this one is included! My most lucrative review (with link and $$$ earned): $45.03, my very first review on the Honda Odyssey! Things I like most about Epinions: Being able to in some part do what my life's dream was...to become a consumer advocate and also help people make informed decisions on the products/services available to consumers. Things I dislike most about Epinions: See krus get on his soap box Oh boy! Let's see. I may be cutting myself off from the community on this one! Ummmm.....ok here goes folks. I think of this as a place, as I said above, to make informed decisions on products. A place where people will come to look up a review of a product before buying. This is kind of like a consumer's written Consumers Reports. Epinions doesn't pay much anymore but it appears that some people think the quantity of reviews they write is more important than what consumers are interested in seeing. BE HONEST people!!! Would you really go to Epinions to look up a review on a Bic pen before you go to Target to buy it? How many people are looking up reviews of colored Post-It notes before going to Office Max to buy it? Pens, staplers, Post-It notes, etc. are things most people wouldn't waste their time looking up on Epinions...so why write about it? The authors certainly are not getting paid more than a few cents for the review. So why bother with reviews on products like that?? Don't you have anything else to do during the day? (I'm on a roll, now!) :-) What else do I dislike about Epinions? I have seen some people almost stalk others, and post unbelievably obscene comments in a review. This is absurd! If you have a gripe against someone, send them a private email. Epinions is owned by a public corporation so there should be some resemblence of professionalism on these reviews and comments. I'm not a prude by any sense of imagination! I let my young kids see stuff that my wife goes nuts about. But this obscene stuff is unacceptable in a forum such as this! GROW UP and GET A LIFE!!! The other thing that bothers me is that even after I complained to Epinions management on this and gave the link for some of the obscene comments (and believe me, some of this is stuff none of you want young kids reading). I received no personal email letting me know that they looked at the link and either agreed or disagreed with my complaint. No actions were taken by the management against the offenders. I believe management should have removed those comments. I'm sorry if some of you are on buddy buddy terms with the Epinions managers, but if the managers aren't taking action on something like this, they should be replaced. Sorry, but that's my opinion! krus54 off soap box Members I admire most on Epinions: I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving out anyone. For the most part everyone on my web of trust. thanks to kevlog for being my original inspiration. Thanks to numerous others who have written incredible reviews to help me make mine better (and some of them may not yet be on my WOT). At least I hope my current reviews are better than the older ones. My ultimate goal at Epinions: Hoping my reviews are informative enough for people to make intelligent choices on what they spend their money on.  |
