By all means please read any and all reviews you can find on iKitchen, both the favorable and especially the negative. When reading the negative reviews you will begin to see a definite pattern: slow product shipping, “refurbished” items rather than “new” merchandise, terrible customer service, etc. etc., the list goes on.
My saga began on 07/25/08 with iKitchen luring me in with an exceptional price for a Cuisinart Electric Knife (another clue, iKitchen has many complaints regarding Cuisinart orders). It finally arrived 18 days later .. REFERBISHED. During the first use the removable blades got stuck and could not be removed. I contacted “Tiffany” in their Customer service department and 3-days later she emailed me a RMA# instructing me to return the item (at my cost of course). I returned the knife on 09/15/08 and never heard from them again. On 09/25/08 I emailed “Tiffany” and she informs me three days later the “return was not processed” and to send her the tracking information, AGAIN. It is now 10/03/08 and I receive an email to “Dear Valued Customer” (nothing personalized this time) informing me my “Order is currently on backorder with no estimated time of arrival. Due to the volatility of and constant changes in the marketplace, there is a small chance that the item(s) you ordered will be out of stock or discontinued when your order is processed.”
After waiting over two and a half moths due to all the above I requested a full refund of $56.09, which I doubt I will receive. The original cost of the knife was $29.99, shipping was $11.10 (nearly 30% the cost of the knife), and my return shipping of the defective “refurbished” knife was $15.00. As you can see, I‘m out $56.09 for a $29.99 item that I do not have.
I’ve ordered on-line for well over 10-years and have NEVER had a problem. This company has a bad reputation and I would strongly suggest consumers think twice before placing an order with iKitchen.
