LOL! I know what you mean...I cannot bring myself to write about post-it notes and pens and such...although I do find stapler reviews helpful since I seem to always purchase the ones that break or jam all the time for my kids....note to self, check out the stapler reviews! I used to keep the boxes from everything that I tried, intending to write reviews about them. I have finally accepted the fact that I just cannot keep up with writing about my purchases (shopaholic? maybe!) so the boxes made their way to the recycling bin. It was a very busy day for the recycling boys lol!

I kind of chucked when I saw your title. I entered some other write-off recently...one of the few that I actually contributed to. I made mention of a little of what I'm about to say.
Somehow I fail to see how people get so caught up in this. I like Epinions because I feel it's a place to do research and get feedback on various products before I spend my money.
Like many people, I get daily emails regarding new epinions by authors. When I see the volume of things that come from some people, it makes me disappointed. The purpose, according to Epinions on their Help page says: Epinions.com helps you make informed buying decisions. It is a premier source for unbiased advice, personalized recommendations, and comparative shopping. I know these people can't be doing it for money because the amount of money we get paid these days for reviews is pitiful.
So, when I see reviews of colored Post-It notes, staplers, $1.59 pens, etc., it makes me wonder if some of these people have a life outside of the computer. Before I write a review (and I haven't written that many) I think to myself, 'Since the purpose of this site is to help others make informed buying decisions, would someone want to actually research what I'm writing about before buying?'
Would you honestly look up 3M Post-It Notes or a $2.00 Bic pen to see what others thought about it before you went out and bought it? Or would a review on a particular stapler make you seek that particular one out while you were at Office Max?
I've seen some great reviews on beers, one that I actually went and special ordered. I have seen some great recommendations from people on restaurants, certain web sites, etc., hotels to visit or stay away from. But to open my email and see that one person wrote 5 different reviews of the same $1.50 pen in 5 different colors just made me shake my head and wonder if he/she has a life!!
Sorry, I guess I've really been on my soap box lately about this stuff! :-)

I'm trying to come back, Susie! Its been a year, and I'm not sure if I can still do it lol! This place is scary when you're not used to it! But I've missed it so much, and there are some good writeoffs to crash that will make it so much easier than an actual product review!
