Completely satisfied, exactly what it claims to. Just follow the instructions and it works perfectly.

I have had MagicJack now for a month and I am very satisfied. I see some negative reviews around the net due to unhappiness with customer service, but it seems from reading the complaints, they seem not to be patient enough to follow instructions, don't want to accept that customer service is strictly online, and seem to be impatient with English spoken with an accent. I just have to say this...English is the universal language and when one leaves the country, what is encountered everywhere is English with an accent, including us with our American accent...America doesn't own the language. I am unfailingly polite to foreign custormer service because I represent my country, and I never have a problem. Those folks are just trying to make a living like the rest of us. That aside, I made an error in my original order and ordered 3 packages online by mistake and the invoice I received in my email was nearly $200. I contacted online customer support immediately, and they handled it politely with no problem at all. I received my MagicJack in a few days and the total charge was $39.95 ($20 for the equipment and $19.95 for the license for the first year) plus $6.95 shipping and handling. At the end of one year I can renew the license for $19.95. This cost is about what I was paying before on my monthly long distance throuch Charter.
Before I plugged it into my computer, I read all the instructions online, and every relevant article in the FAQ online and familiarized myself with the product and the software. Then when I plugged it in, I knew exactly what to do and what to expect. When I plugged it in to the USB port on the back of my computer, a light on the Magic Jack came on and it started downloading software. I followed the instructions slowly and accurately. After the software installed I was prompted to select my new phone number from a list, and then plug in my phone and make a test call. The software is a small package that updates itself each time I reboot. It puts a small icon in the system tray and when I pick up the phone to call, it opens automatically. There is a simple interface that opens up on the computer screen, including an intuituve directory which stores numbers and other data. You can make a call using the software, or by just dialing the phone. You do not dial a 1. At first the calls weren't very clear, but I left it for a few days rather than contact tech support, and surprisingly, the problems just worked themselves out with a few computer reboots. It has been smooth as silk since then, calls are crystal clear, and best of all, we dropped our expensive unlimited long distance service. We now use our MagicJack phone for all long distance calls and only pay for a local phone service bundled with our internet..$14.95...this allowed us to keep our old number on a land line so our friends can still reach us. We also adjusted our cell phone service, so we are able to save about $60 per month by installing MagicJack. You do have to dial an area code with local numbers too as it is a national network, and you do have to leave your computer on to have service. If your net goes down, it will too, but we have the land line for local calls, and our cell phones, so for what we want it for...long distance...it's perfect. I am going to Romania for 6 months soon and I will take one with me and install it there and I will be able to call home for free...a savings of big bucks! MagicJack has worked flawlessly for me.
