The Bottom Line I hope I get an autographed copy of Puck's book if I win! What was that? No one wins in this thing? D'oh!
Christian921s entry into the Second Annual Sports Challenge Write Off, hosted by Puckmugger. Honestly, Scott if you wanted to really make it a challenge you should have made it about knitting or something! 1. What are your favorite sports to watch on television? Racing, football, and tennis. If you promise not to snicker, I also have been known to flip to womens beach volleyball when my wife leaves the room. 2. How often do you watch sports on television? I catch NASCAR races every chance I get. During football season I try to catch my favorite teams when I can. I prefer the Grand Slam events of tennis over the lesser tournaments. And as already stated I catch womens pro beach volleyball during my wifes bathroom breaks. 3. What are your favorite sports to watch live? I love going to dirt tracks and seeing sprints and outlaws running. I like seeing football games, even high school. If I had to pick one I would say racing though. 4. How many live sporting events do you typically attend annually? Maybe a half dozen races or more and as many college football games as I can beg tickets for. 5. What organized team sports have you ever participated in previously? I have played tournament paintball, bowling, high school football, grade school basketball, and soccer. 6. What organized individual sports have you participated in previously? I played several racquetball tournaments. I also skateboarded in my youth and competed in a street competition once. Neither led me to glory! 7. What pick-up sports have you participated in previously? I will still play basketball at the Y, flag football, and some wall ball (racquetball). I will jump into paintball games when I am at the fields. Anything to remind me that I am not a young man anymore! 8. What sports or outdoor activities do you currently participate in? Fishing (hey, if ESPN covers its a sport) (yes, even spelling), paintball, and a little tennis now and then. 9. How often? Not nearly enough! We have a new baby in the house and I love spending time with the short stack. I am holding off on a lot of things till he gets big enough to go with me. I will sneak off for paintball, tennis, and fishing about once a month right now. 10. Is there any sport that you wish you could participate in now? Racing. I would love to get a chance to race! 11. Whats keeping you from doing it? Mostly money! Time would be a big consideration. I have so many pots to boil I need to get another stove! It would also take an act of Congress to get my wife to go along with it. 12. If your fairy godmother was going to give you all the skill and a job in pro sports, what sport would you play? This is a tough one! I would love a shot to play in the Super Bowl so I could say football. I still think I would rather pass Earnhardt by a fender to win the Daytona 500 (my fairy godmother has a time machine too)! 13. What team and position (if relevant)? Well racing is racing, brother. Put me behind the wheel. As for football, I am hitting the time machine again and I am wearing number 9 for the '85 Bears instead of Jimmy Mac. I am handing the ball off to Payton to win the Super Bowl, after beating the Fins on Monday night and finishing the season with a big "0" in the loss column. This was a little more than you were looking for but I was on a roll there! 14. What beer would you promote as a sports celebrity? Yuengling. It is Americas oldest brewery and it is wicked good. 15. What brand would you promote? I am back in the race car here, I want Sony on my car! Imagine the freebies! 16. Do you have any sports heroes? Who are they and why are they your heros? Walter Payton. He was the first football player I saw that made me want to be really good at football. He carried himself with pride on the field. He wasnt cocky, he just got the job done and got ready for the next play. I also really looked up to Dale Earnhardt in racing for his brute will to win. 17. If you could invent a new sport, no matter how absurd, what would it be? Corners Paintball. Four 2-player teams on a covered hockey rink. Played indoors with the hockey glass up and netting over the top, there would be see-through inflatable bunkers on the field. There would be little cover from any direction and smart breaks and quick moves would be key. I would also outlaw any electric markers. Pumps or mechanical only. Well, maybe I would have electric markers but have the three types broken into different classes. Last team standing wins. Thanks, puckmugger. This was a lot of fun! This write off is for puckmuggers 2nd Annual Sports Challenge Write Off. This is part one of two. Part two of Puck's challenge: My review of the Wilson US Open tennis racket.
