Ed Grover, Congratulations on the extra 20years+ of Good LifeAug 30 '05 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Red Rover Red Rover, Send Ed Grover Right Over!! Ed Grover is one of those readers and raters that helped get me involved in Epinions. To me, it's those people who read your posts and write a comment or two that make Epinions the enjoyable place it is. Ed spent his earlier years living in New York City. There were a number of reviews that I posted about that city where Ed would comment in reference to his many memories of some particular destinations I reviewed. His kind words are always appreciated. I decided to look back at some of Ed's reviews recently, ha, earlier today. There were many I never got to, my loss. A couple of particular reviews caught my attention. They were about alcoholism, Ed's battle with it and some words that can be quite helpful to people with this disease. I'll also mention that at least one of those reviews were part of a W/O. I believe W/Os are good for the community of people here and good for Epinions. I grew up in an alcoholic family. As a young man I attended AA meetings with my dad. He struggled and though he did fall at times he did pretty much clear up his life and lived a much longer life than any of us ever would have imagined when knowing him in his darker days. AA and people who supported him gave him that extra life. There was other alcoholism in my family too. It's a tough disease that does not discern who will be a victim. It's an all inclusive club. That includes gay men. I found Ed's struggle with alcoholism, being a gay man with it and also his doubts about giving up himself to a higher being very interesting and enlightening. I believe the following are reviews that everyone should read whether struggling with alcohol or not. It's eye opening and can help each of us understand the struggles of others in a better light. Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions Ed has been sober for over 20 years according to that review. WOW! That's something to cheer for and celebrate. Congratulations ED!! Ed closes his piece with these words, "Be good to yourself and get some help if you think you need it. I did and I will never regret it. For all this I can only say, Thank you AA, Im truly grateful for my continuing recovery. Some of you may feel that this form of help or recovery is not right for you and thats your choice. It was for me and I Pass it on! Thanks for those words of wisdom my friend, Ed Grover.
