The Quotes That Make The Movie W/O 2005
Sep 02 '05 (Updated Dec 01 '05)
The Bottom Line will be entering. Will you?
Last year I held my most successful write/off to date, The Quotes That Make The Movie W/O. A list of participants can be found at the supplied link.
I posted that piece nearly a year ago, with last years deadline being Aug 31. Ive been considering bringing it back for 2005, and I figured what better time than around the official close off of last years W/O?
Call it The Quotes Strike Back, or The Quotes Reloaded or even Quotes 2: Judgement Day. Hell, use the comment section to make up your own variation if you want.
The point is, the write/off is back for 2005. For those who missed out last time, heres the basic deal. Cinema is filled with great quotes. Pick a quote, and review the film it comes from. Within your review, point out the quote and tell us why its so damn important to the film. Be as long-winded or as to the point as you want, it doesnt matter.
However, Ive got a few more details Id like to throw in this time around. Firstly, check out last years entries (links can be found by going to the link provided above). If you insist on reviewing the same film as someone else picked last year, then use a different quote. Reviewing the same film and using the same quote is not only unoriginality that cannot be tolerated, its also pointless.
Secondly, since this years write/off is pretty much a sequel to what came before, lets have some reviews of films that are sequels. Im not saying your review has to be of a sequel, but theres more points on offer if it is.
Thirdly, every entry submitted last year ended up the same way: recommending the film. Seeing as I myself entered five times, Im probably more to blame for that than anyone else. Despite that, lets see the odd negative review this year. Maybe you could say why the quote youve selected is unnecessary and stuffs up the film.
Send your entry via email to dbcint@gmail.com or leave a comment with the link.

Thank you to all those who entered. The W/O has officially closed for the year. I'll be updating this to include all the links sometime tonight, including my own entry. (Yes, I finally got around to writing it! lol)
The fact that I've taken so long to enter my own W/O this year shows me that I just don't have the spare time I used to have. I've got a bit of time on my hands over the next week or so, and that will be spent catching up on my reviewing.
For this reason alone, I'll be removing any marks I gave out during this and my previous W/O, and the event I had planned for early 2006 is hereby, regretfully, cancelled. Believe me, if I felt I had the time to put the necesssary energy and ideas into it, then I'd go ahead with it in a shot. As it is, I've got more pressing things to deal with, (such as getting on with life in the big bad world), and as such feel that it's best to abort the plans I had now, instead of having the whole thing turn pear-shaped because I can't put the necessary attention into it.
