Sep 06 '05 (Updated Sep 11 '05)
The Bottom Line Typing this W/O should burn about 50 calories
As we hear the startling fact that the majority of the people of this great nation are overweight, I would like to know what we epinionators are doing about it. Enlighten us with your diet, exercise and weight loss stories. In accordance to Write off etiquette please either email me a link to your entry or leave me a comment, thanks....enjoy!
1. What is your current Weight? (optional)
185 lbs.
2. What is your goal weight, or how many pounds do you want to lose?
170 lbs. (15 lbs.)
3. Are you currently on a diet regimen? If so which one?
I am just trying to limit my portions, eat less, drink more fluids and limit my calories.
4. When did you begin your current plan and how's it going so far?
My wife and I have been on the low calorie diet for about 6 weeks, I lost 7 lbs and she lost 14 lbs.
5. What other diets (if any) have you tried in the past? What were the results?
I was on the Atkins diet for a couple of months in 2003. I lost 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks
and I lost a total of 25 lbs in 2 months by limiting my carbs. My wife was on the same
plan and she later switched to limiting her eating and exercising, she lost 40 lbs in 5
months.
6. Do you include exercise with your diet? If so what activities or workouts are you performing?
We try to exercise regularly, we used to go to Bally's but have no time for it, now we do Tae-Bo and Billy's Bootcamp, it kicks our butts for nearly 1000 calories.
7. What was your most dramatic weight loss?
See above
8. Have you ever gained back the weight after a diet? If so why?
After my 2003 diet we got pregnant and subsequently got a bit lazy, my wife gained pregnancy weight and I gained because of lack of time to exercise and eat healthy. Nearly a year after the baby was born we began our current plan, he was taking too much of our time to have any time to diet and exercise until now.
9. Out of the following: Neck, arms, legs, calves, abs, shoulders, back, chest...which do you feel is most defined?
My right arm is pretty toned and muscular, mostly from holding my 22 lb son with that arm as well as some toning exercises with Bootcamp.
10. Which area from the above mentioned do you feel needs the most work?
Definitely my abs, I have a bit of a gut forming and my love handles are getting no love from me,
the abs have always been problematic for me.
11. What is your impression of the "real women" ads you see on billboards advertising skin care products (women in white bras and underwear posing and smiling)?
As a man, I am sure it is liberating for the typically built women to see something that is real and not forced. It is nice to see women unashamed of their bodies and not pressed by society to starve themselves and weigh less than a stick because that's what people like to see. As an average Joe I would take meat over bones anytime of the week and twice on Sundays.
