The Bottom Line Ok, this makes me feel like I need to go work out!

*This is an entry to Romasuave's Diet Write-Off. Check it out!

To be honest, I was stuffing my face with the new giant sized M&M’s when I originally read about this write-off. I’m done now, so here goes…

1. What is your current Weight? (optional)

I’ve been fluctuating by a few pounds for about three years now. I think about 120 is my ideal weight for my height and frame and I'm around that now.

2. What is your goal weight, or how many pounds do you want to lose?

I’m happy in my current weight range but I would like a higher ratio of muscle to fat. I started working part-time at a gym recently and honestly I’ve been working out less ever since because I have to be there for work all the time! I’ve also been sick and feel really week and blah from that. I am definitely ready to start eating healthy and working out again just to work out.

3. Are you currently on a diet regimen? If so, which one?

Nope but I need to get on the good ol’ healthy eating diet for health reasons as I mentioned above. I tend to eat pretty healthy and work out most of the time but every so often I have a couple weeks or a month where I just slack off and this is one of those times.

4. When did you begin your current plan and how's it going so far?

N/A

5. What other diets (if any) have you tried in the past? What were the results?

I do not believe in fad diets at all. I gained thirty pounds my first year of college (uh, the Freshmen Thirty?) and lost it over a six month period following. At that time I simply lowered my intake of calories by focusing on getting the correct number of servings of each food group per day. If you have enough fruits, grains, vegetables, proteins, and dairy servings you should be full before you get to the junk food. I also cut out the old “fourth meal” of pizza or tacos that was so common in dorm life. In general I have a pretty high metabolism so I don’t have to cut back a lot to lose weight.

I strongly believe that no food should be forbidden but portion control and working out regularly are key. If I were to pick an organized diet plan to recommend to someone I think WeightWatchers is great.

6. Do you include exercise with your diet? If so what activities or workouts are you performing?

Normally I work out 5-6 days a week for about 30-45 minutes. These workouts include light strength training and cardio. Different cardio activities I enjoy include aerobics classes, elliptical training, biking, and non-traditional workout videos such as belly dancing or strip aerobics.

7. What was your most dramatic weight loss?

I lost 25 of that thirty pounds I gained my freshman year! Whoo hoo! The other five or so can stay.

8. Have you ever gained back the weight after a diet? If so why?

I tend to gain and lose a bit but usually stay within a ten-pound radius. It’s not really a matter of going off and on a diet, it has more to do with how stressed I am and how often I am going out to eat. I tend to splurge at restaurants so I really gain on vacations and at holiday times. When I start eating normally again the weight usually goes back off.

9. Out of the following: Neck, arms, legs, calves, abs, shoulders, back, chest...which do you feel is most defined?

Um…not abs! Probably legs, I naturally develop muscle there more easily than other places.

10. Which area from the above mentioned do you feel needs the most work?

Again with the abs…I’m just not built to have abs of steel.

11. What is your impression of the "real women" ads you see on billboards advertising skin care products (women in white bras and underwear posing and smiling)?

I don’t really think too much about them though and I didn’t honestly understand what the big fuss was about. I guess the ads are a little risqué for public streets but that has nothing to do with whether they are ‘real’ woman or not. They were attractive ladies I think.

*Ok now I’m headed off to an elaborate multi-course dinner and wine tasting with my friends…maybe I’ll start that healthy eating regimen tomorrow!
