Hilarious blast from the past. (Reply to this comment)

You probably even think the inscrutable thousand-point seatbelt will keep your child safer, or help him get into Yale someday.
Yes - that's it! this justifies the higher price!
Seriously, we had overall positive experiences with a Perego stroller (not a travel system), but we "inherited" it from friends - I would not have paid a new item price for it.

do not agree (Reply to this comment)

The primo viaggio is much better than all those gracos and evenflos that resemble moving kitchenets with all those baskets and cup holders.
I own it since May 2001 and I'm very satisfied. The carseat comes out easily if you hold it correctly (try to hold it from the front and the back and not from the grip when you are pulling it out from the base)
As for the stroller itself it has been perfect up to now at least.

Re: The best stroller we've purchased (so far)... (Reply to this comment)

Brett, that's my next stop. Target. I want big wheels and a huge basket, and I no longer care if the fabric has some sort of pastel circus print on it.
It takes a few babies to figure these things out though, doesn't it?
Thanks for your comment,

The best stroller we've purchased (so far)... (Reply to this comment)
by AggieBrett
...is a big Graco all-terrain model that I found on close-out at Target for 40 dollars one day. Out of the FIVE strollers in my garage (hey, we have kid #4 on the way...), that's the one I always reach for when it's time to stroll. Those giant wheels make it easier to use on any surface, and the basket underneath is like a pickup truck-- I think it actually will hold a full sized piece of plywood.
Or maybe that's our minivan. I know I own SOMETHING that will haul plywood if the need arises.
Cool review. Expensive stroller. Congrats on the baby.

Wow! (Reply to this comment)

A crappy canopy that doesn't stay in place, wobbly wheels that squeak (and probably lock up when you jog to get across the street)...this sounds just like my Evenflo. Well, except that my Evenflo broke the first time I tried to raise the seat back, and as a result the seat back is permanently in the flat position. I still use the darn thing, though.

Excellent summary (Reply to this comment)

Even though my kids are far too old to require a stroller... er, excuse me, a travel system, this review makes me not want to buy one for them.

Re: It's not that bad... (Reply to this comment)

I'm certainly willing to accept that I may have gotten a lemon, but given the number of problems with mine, I'd be shocked if they were all flukes.
I can't compare this to other travel systems because this is the first one I've ever purchased. When I compare the components to comparable strollers and carseats though, they don't measure up. The stroller is heavier and bulkier than my comparably priced Aprica, and the carseat's quality and usability are no match for the $70 Evenflo model in my husband's car.
And I've got to admit-- the Primo Viaggio's failings sure do make it a fun thing to complain about.
Thanks for your comments.
