Well, after seeing all the bond films, and going from the highs to the lows, I can say that this is most definitely a low.
Now, maybe my brain wasnt turned on, but I found that I had real trouble following the action scenes. They were shot in a very choppy, 1 second per angle style that didnt let them develop smoothly. In other words....the action scenes had no flow.
The movie in general had no flow. It didnt carry you from one action scene, to a narritive that built to the next action scene, etc, etc....not there at all.
The problem is, the movie is based on the last movie. Every time you tried to think back to the last movie, you ended up missing something in this one.
The story line seems very polluted somehow. Its tough to tell the good guys from the bad guys, and normally, this is a good thing because it makes you think, but the movie attempts to be so fast paced, that you don't have time to think, and the whole thing turns into a blur.
Trouble is, in a bad movie, I find my mind wandering off to other thoughts. In this movie my mind was doing more wondering "what heppened" than wondering " whats next !!"
Acting: Daniel Craig is still the darkest, edgiest Bond, and he carries it off well. If you want a smooth Bond, grab a rental because this guy cuts like a knife.
Directing: Choppy, dark scenes, visually un-appealing.
Story: I am still wondering what happened. At the end of it all, I wasn't sure what I watched. The final big action sequence was completely un-inspired, and the dialogue previous to that gave away the premise of the last big boom. The only sublte humour I found was in the end, when the Canadian intelligence agent leaves the room. Listen to what she says.....now THATS CANADIAN !!! (woo hoo !!)
