Pros: Had a HUGE selection of Corelle dishes.
Cons: Went out of business in our area.
The Bottom Line: I like Kmart for the variety of things they offer at a fair price.

| Neenkena's Full Review: Kmart |
Now I must confess when we moved from Oklahoma City to Magnolia I had my doubts. I really enjoyed having stuff open 24/7 and missed it when we got here but I ALWAYS thought I would have my Kmart. I was SO wrong!
First off Kmart here was dirty. The staff was rude and could have really cared less if we were in the store or not UNTIL it was announced that they were going to close the store. See, the really smart ones that sit in their ivory towers decided we needed a Super K or Big K as they are lovingly called. Now I could have told them it would not work but did they ask me? Nope and it was to late by the time they started the changes.
In Magnolia, AR we are city of tradition to a point. We are faithful to our local merchants. We shop at Brookshire's Food Stores or Kroger or Smittys (which is now Save-On) or Save-a-lot. We are community of about 13,000 people on a regular basis. Our money is mostly old money from the oil days that was wisely invested. Kmart has been here as long as I can remember. I honestly cannot remember when Wal-Mart moved in but they did. I love Wal-Mart, don't get me wrong but I was a loyal Kmart shopper for YEARS. I miss my Kmart.
No I was not happy when I was told 5 years ago when I wanted to put the kids some really cool bikes on layaway that I HAD to sign a contract stating that I would either pay on the layaway weekly or by-weekly. Ok what gives? I drove a big rig at the time with my husband, we were only home monthly and it was not fair for me to ask my parents to make sure they get to Kmart weekly or bi-weekly to make MY layaway payment. I left so angry I could have chewed up nails and spit put tacks! Wal-Mart was just about 1/2 a mile down the road so we went there. No, I did not get the really cool bikes I wanted but I was given my layaway with no strings attached. The only clear rule was that if I did not get it out in 60 days it was going back. Hey no problem.
Our Kmart always had the really neat or hard to find items for gifts I liked. Our Kmart ALWAYS had much more Christmas and holiday decorations than anyone around. I miss that and it is gone now for always from our area. Yes I could put up with a grumpy clerk here and there to find that special gift.
Kmart ALWAYS let me park my Freightliner (a big truck) with our without a trailer in their parking lot to do my shopping. I love the Big K or Super K stores that have the grocery stores in them along with the regular department store part.
My experience with Kmart over all has been great in other parts of our great country. They always were ready to exchange items with out without a receipt. Maybe I never got much flack because I did not want money. I just wanted a sweater that fit or a different pair of jeans.
The prices in the rest of the country were fair. I have no idea why things cost more here Magnolia, AR. Yes, I still payed the extra price for my favorite Corelle pattern. It is called Hometown. Beige in color with little farm houses and hearts on the rim of the plates and bowls. Now I have to drive to El Dorado, AR, about 40 miles away to get my Kmart fix. Anyone want to come?
