You are not alone (Reply to this comment)

It is 105 days since Hurricane Katrina, and I just read your comments (in my search for advice on beginner's telescopes as a matter of fact).
Thank you for your insights on telescopes. Thank you more for your eloquent words on what so many of us feel having left the Gulf Coast. My home was completely washed away; our coastal town felt the full force of the eastern eyewall. Despite the loss, the real pain was leaving a wonderful area with good people who must stay behind and rebuild, while my company moved me immediately to Texas. (Where I too will enjoy evenings with low ambient light and clear skies.)
All of us must realize - especially when considering the grand size of our universe - that we are small in the eyes of nature. We must do what we can to survive and help others. Our remaining in the disaster area will only burden those who cannot leave.
May I suggest we can help our friends and neighbors more with monthly drives to the area, loaded with comfort foods, clothes, toys for the kids, and building supplies?
Good luck, and thanks for your wisdom.

Thanks for your consideration. It's been a very strange time. Tucson is a neat place. We're wondering what sort of rebuilding plan is going to take form in New Orleans.
But having the little baby is a good thing. She is very cute, though I realize I am biased.

I've never been to New Orleans or to Tuscon. It must be so surreal to think about the place where you once lived completely destroyed just months after your departure.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby!
