Pros: Small, lightweight, can take 128 smartmedia cards, voice recording
Cons: hard-to-open USB port, FM reception is pretty weak, need to get a better case
The Bottom Line: cheap, great sound, expandable, with fm and voice recording and handy remote. nuff said!

| chinamonk's Full Review: Creative Labs Nomad II (64MB) MP3 Player |
I searched for almost TWO MONTHS to pick the right mp3 player. I would highly recommend the nomad II. I use it for heavy long distance running, i have a 64 mb smartmedia card and i'll be getting a 128 soon for only 50$. Voice recording is great for digitally taping classes (i'm a university student) and you can later convert the voice files into .wav and then to .mp3. The sound quality on mp3s is good and the belt clip is solid. the last one on my rio 300 broke, this one seems a lot better. my friends have the rio 500 which is a great deal and good for running, is cheap and has 64 onboard. but it doesn't have fm or voice recording. definitely get this one, and don't worry about the 0 megs onboard, smartmedia cards are so cheap now and they're only getting cheaper.
MAJOR PLUS: this thing can play WMA files.. which can be nearly 1/4 the size of MP3s.. the rio 500 and other similar MP3's will CONVERT WMA files to mp3 so you don't get the savings in space, this one plays WMA directly.. i have quadrupled the number of songs on here using this technique.
