The Bottom Line Expedia.com for those that don't need a travel agent.

I can't even recall how I first came across the Expedia.com site. Whatever the reason it was fortunate for me that I found it. I have been able to make airline reservations for my wife and daughter and send their E tix via email to them with their itineraries while I am on the road.
My wife, who I admit, is not the savy traveler by any means, always decides that she wants to make her travel arrangements while I am on the road. Fortunately for me I have expedia.com to find the best prices, the best schedule, and the ease of operation that even a technophobe could love.
The site allows you to set your home airport so you don't always have to enter it. You can change it if you are leaving from somewhere else or you are checking a fare for a friend (I ended up checking a lot of them for our baseball team when everyone heard the great fares I found for my wife). It is easy to use and allows you to search for airfares, hotels, rental cars, and other travel items. I have been well pleased with the results each and every time that I have used it.
I would recommend expedia.com for anyone that feels secure enough in themselves to make their own travel reservations. If you don't then the old system of calling your travel agent to do it for you or calling your favorite airline to check prices is still for you. I prefer to go to one place and find the best price at the time that I want to travel. Expedia.com is the site for me.
