you made out well with the storm. I refused to believe it was coming until the wind was ripping through the screen enclosure. LOL

Great list of movies! (Reply to this comment)
by whalewatcher
Did you ever see 'Wait Until Dark' with Audrey Hepburn? It's one of my favorite suspense thrillers.
I must say though that I gravitate towards the 'lighter fare' these days. As of late, I get my share of 'scary stuff' in the news :-((!

Great List (Reply to this comment)
by lynnzop
Pet Sematary is the only King book that scared me so badly I had to put it down. And then pick it up. And then put it down. And then pick it up. ;-) You get the picture.
And even though I knew the story intimately, I watched the film (in the theatre) with my hands over my eyes. Have seen it ONCE, and that was enough. It will scare the pants off the stoutest person!!!
Hope you made it through the storm with minimal damage!

I'm not a big King fan, but you've lots of my faves here. Wondered if Village of the Damned was the original or sequel? I still haven't seen the original or Bride of Frankenstein, but will soon. Hope you're getting things cleaned up.

Better scary ones! (Reply to this comment)
by vicfar
I have not seen all the movies you list.
Certainly the following ones are better than many of the ones you cite:
-First and foremost "The Shining" by Kubrick, the best horror film I have ever seen.
-Rosemary's Baby.
-The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
-Hitchcock's "the Birds".
I never thought Halloween was scary. There is a subtle line between credibility (real scary) and way off (unlikely and not scary). Halloween crosses the line by a mile, for me..

What about that other horror, Wilma.
I hope you are doing OK.

is, I think, the movie that scared me the most when I saw it in theaters. And I'd already read the book! Good list - I hope you're hanging in there -

Madeleine Kahn! (Reply to this comment)
by craftswoman
I loved Madeleine Kahn. Hurricane Wilma? What's next? Hurricane Barney? Hurricane Pebbles? So, are you going to leave Bedrock or are you planning to wait it out? Psycho was the all-time scary movie for me. Who needs scary movies anymore when you've got real-life scares!! What could be more scary than that?? Looking forward for this hurricane season to be over. You're gonna need a vacation after it, I think! Take one! (and then write us about it ; ) Stay safe.

A very interesting list... (Reply to this comment)
by angienic2001
I must admit I've only seen "Halloween" out of your list, but I've heard of a great deal of these other ones, just never got a chance to sit down and watch 'em. Perhaps I'll do that at some point and time soon, 'cause there's some particular ones here that sound QUITE intriguing.
Also, just wanted to say good luck in regards to Wilma. May you and your family and friends, as well as everyone else in Wilma's path, make it through this all right. Take care.

My only addition would be my all-time favorite-
Rosemary's Baby . (and probably the Exorcist)
Hopefully, we will talk tomorrow, the storm will be gone, we will all be safe, our homes intact, and we'll still have electricity!!
Have a good, uneventful evening as Wilma passes over us and TRY to relax a bit!!
Be safe!!
Love,
Robin

Oh, I must see 'Dead Zone', too, which I knew next to nothing of. David Cronenberg and Chris Walken? Sounds intriguing. Thanks for the fine list!

On Wednesday I didn't know if it would be you or me. I wanted it to go west. Now today we are waiting too. I just hope it weakens so the damage is minimal.
Can't wait until 24 hours time when it will be all over.
Hugs to both you and Irving.
Susie.

Nice list! Halloween and The Omen are among my favorite horror movies, and Freaks probably would be if I'd seen it more than once a couple years ago.
Also hoping Wilma passes with minimal terror,

I agree with Steven Murray. Nothing could be as terrifying as what you are going through as you wait for Wilma. The last time I got the news, she is getting close but hasn't struck yet. You know you. Irv, your daughters and their families as well as Robin and her family are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. May God be with you All.

not knowing whether Wilma will pick up more momentum before slamming into you? Hmmm.
I hope the terror is no realer than watching a movie!
