Pros: Room and bathroom were large and clean.
Cons: NEVER stay at a Comfort Inn under reconstruction. You'll be sorry!
The Bottom Line: This is one inn that does not live up to it's name. There is no comfort at this inn!

| ktryathart1's Full Review: Comfort Inns and Suites |
I collect pottery and had always wanted to see the towns where many pottery pieces are made. Hence we chose Zanesville, Ohio as the center for our stay traveling to the smaller towns around there. They had a number of hotels in the area: Travel Lodge, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, and the Comfort Inn. Having stayed at more Comfort and Quality Inns we decided to rest our weary bones there. The motel also had a big sign bragging that it was a 4 gold star award motel which means it exceeded Choice Hotels International quality standards in professionalism, housekeeping and hospitality. I don't think so...
So my husband goes in and tells the staff we want to stay for 2 days in a nice quiet room away from traveling traffic. He comes out and says they had half of the reception area under construction. Kinda messy. Now nothing was mentioned that the hall area where we entered was under construction and that the inner entrance up to the main desk was blocked by said construction. My husband talked briefly to the construction guys who said they would be done by evening and were very sorry for being in the way. Fine we could handle that...afterall we were going to be gone most of the day.
While the room and the bathroom itself were appeasing to the eye, other things were not. Hubby attempts to turn on the TV, it doesn't work! I call the front desk and let it ring 6 or 8 times, no answer! This is a 4 star hotel?? I don't think so... So hubby sets out to the front desk, the long way around. In the meantime someone calls back and was wondering how our room was.
I said, "Well I tried to call you but no answer. Our TV isn't working."
He replies, "You have to flip the light switch by the door on." (I'm thinking why should you have to flip any switch on? How stupid, or was this for some poor lazy soul who didn't want to turn the TV off as he left?)
To which I state, "It is on and the TV still doesn't work."
Ok so he says he will come down and check it out. In the meantime my husband gets back and says someone will be forthcoming. The guy arrives, and finds no it's not the switch, it's the plug-in. After trying to move the oversize dresser in which the TV sets on away from the wall he finally with exerted effort makes the switch. Ok...we can overlook this incident.
We go out to get some dinner and do some sightseeing. After a long day of driving and walking through many pottery shops, we are ready for a quiet evening of TV and reading brochures for sites will see tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the construction guys did not keep their promise so the inner entrance to the front desk was still blocked off. About 7 p.m. we heard this ungodly sound, thinking it might be a fire siren for the hotel we stepped out of the room...it was the very loud buzzer for the laundry room next door evidently informing the help the laundry was done. Hubby (ever the complacent one and a little hard of hearing) says well they'll be done in a little while (WRONG AGAIN! The last buzzer went off at 11 p.m., I know I heard it!).
So I turned up the heater/air conditioner fan on high which was more noise than I liked but better then the buzzer. I go over to the corner desk they had to try to read. The light switch didn't work or the bulb was burned out on this too. I finally fell asleep after the last laundry buzzer sounded at 11 p.m.
The next morning, I asked hubby to get us donuts and juice and coffee as they serve continental breakfast according to their ads. After travailing down 20 lengths of rooms again and back he comes back empty-handed. Saying that they didn't have anything set up because of the construction. That was it for him then. He needs his coffee for an eye-opener and there was no pot in the room. He says pack everything up we're leaving.
Hubby goes to check out and proceeded to list all the problems we had and to cancel the second night and tells them that when we got home we were going to write the corporation about this stay. They did apologize and reduced our room rate by $27 but I still feel I was overcharged. This community also has safe tax (for use of inroom safe), and $12.15 in miscellaneous other taxes to the normal room rate of $89.99!
After the hassle with the rooms, I told my husband lets just start heading home I was in no mood to deal with anymore hotels or motels and my own bed would suffice tonight. So if you're thinking about staying in a Comfort Inn in Zanesville, Ohio I would advise against it.
