The second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is when most fans agree the show really hit its stride. Between seasons 2 and 3, this was the pinnacle of the series' greatness. It's also the first full 22-episode season for the show.

For the first half of the season, we're introduced to Spike (James Marsters) and Drusilla (Juliet Landau), two punk-rock vampires based off of Sid and Nancy. They'll prove to be thorns in Buffy's side for the rest of the series, and even bleed over into the spin-off Angel to cause trouble.
But they're only the beginning. At the mid-point of season 2, Buffy's love interest, vampire-with-a-soul Angel (David Boreanaz), will lose his soul and revert back to being Angelus, one of the most horrific and dangerous vampires ever known. How does one fight an enemy you're in love with?
By the end of the season, there won't be much left standing, no character left unchanged. Pretty much everyone will face some deep dark secret before it's all done. This is the year many audiences discovered Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it became the phenomenon you've always heard it was.
The season comes packaged on six DVDs, with four episodes to a DVD except for the last DVD, which has two episodes and several bonus features.
