Most everyone likes music and/or movies to one degree or another and most everyone has a wish list of movies or CD's just waiting to be fulfilled. One can get lost on the internet utilizing so many different web sites for movies and music but one I have tried and liked it DeepDiscount.com, a media web site best known for its selection of DVD's and CD's.

I have been using Deep Discount for many years, but the site is a little different today than compared to the past. In the early days, Deep Discount was divided into separate stores for DVD and CD. Today, the site has combined everything into one easy to shop location. Deep Discount has also expanded the offerings to include many different things, like fragrances, games, puzzles, and more.
DeepDiscount.com got its name from what it claims are its deeply discounted prices. I am always skeptical when a web site uses a name like this, because it is often meant to deceive. Of course, all web sites claim to have low prices but often, those that emphasize low prices in the name of the web site actually do not offer very low prices at all. The hope is that you, the consumer, will assume there has to be at least a grain of truth to the name/claim and you will begin to fill your shopping cart without hesitation.
Comparing DeepDiscount.com to other places where similar items are sold reveals that DeepDiscount.com does, indeed, offer very good deals on music and DVD's. I spent some time making direct comparisons between DeepDiscount.com, Amazon.com, and CDuniverse.com and I found that, more often than not, DeepDiscount.com does offer a price that is either the lowest of the three or tied for the lowest price with one of the other sites. Granted, not every price is lower on every CD, but the majority of the deals you will find are better at DeepDiscount.com. The same is true with movies. DeepDiscount.com offers either the lowest price or is tied for the lowest price when compared to other popular online DVD buying sources.
So, it looks like DeepDiscount.com is the perfect shopping experience, doesn't it? It offers great prices on music CD's and movie DVD's, so that means the other merchandise is also priced lower then the competition, right? I'm afraid the answer is no. DeepDiscount.com does not offer the best prices in other areas. A quick price comparison in the books category reveals that DeepDiscount.com is generally more expensive than the competition. There is one exception: If the book is flagged as a Bargain Book (shark symbol and the words Bargain Book underneath the title), then the price is lower than average. But prices for other merchandise are also either equal to or a little higher than average.
Now, let's take a look at some other aspects of DeepDiscount.com. For web design, the site is very functional in spite of the excessive ads on the home page and items can be found with relative ease. Customers can either browse categories or search for specific titles, actors, artists, etc. The search results can be extensive, so DeepDiscount.com allows you to sort your search either by most popular, by title, by price (low to high or high to low), or by most recent. And the selection at DeepDiscount.com is very large for movies and music, but not so large for everything else. A search for, say, Led Zeppelin returns a list of 114 CD's, 37 books, and 15 DVD's. A search for a lesser- known book title or author is likely to return no matches at all.
Free shipping is one of the main reasons I use DeepDiscount.com and I like the way Deep Discount defaults each order to Free Shipping. Many other web sites will default to one of the more expensive shipping methods, with the hope that some consumers will not notice or not realize that a free shipping option exists. Here, free shipping is the method defaulted to and every shopper is fully aware that this option is present.
Unless something is needed very quickly, free shipping is the way to go. Yes, it can take some time to get your order, but the nice thing is that DeepDiscount.com usually ships these free shipping orders faster than promised. The site lists five to ten business days, but based on my experience, the time it takes is usually toward the lower end of this estimate- about six days. Christmas time might be an exception since the backlog of orders is much greater. But during the other times of the year, the free shipping option should result in a package sent to your door in about six or seven days.
Overall, Deepdiscount.com is a very good web site for music and movies with a huge selection, good product information, and free shipping options. Yes, the selection and prices aren't as good with books and other areas, but for music and movies, the prices at Deepdiscount.com are tough to beat and it ranks as one of the first places I check when I'm looking to buy some music or movies.
