Living with a Latex Allergy - What Should You Know About Latex in Your House
by mmcphee | Oct 27 '05
Latex can be difficult, if not impossible to avoid. Education is key when someone in your home has a latex allergy.

Thanks for the comment. I really do just want to get the word out. I always get strange looks from people when I won't let me kids have those free latex balloons that everyone seems to give out.

It is definitely a service to others, to get the word out about latex allergy. As you said, it can take time for people to discover they have latex allergy. It's too bad you've experienced difficulty breathing over this. I imagine you've discussed this with a doctor? (to see if you should have an inhaler available or an emergency epinephrine injector, such as Epipen?).
Best of luck to you.

I definitely will. I plan to add a section to include latex free products that I have found so far. Thanks for the comment!

... editorial! I had no idea there was such an allergy. How horrible for you, but I'm glad you discerned what it was rather than continuing to have problems. I'm sure you'll be updating as you learn about Latex.

It could very well be a latex sensitivity. The toilet seat episode had to be murder!

I know it isn't fun. I wonder if that's what my mother has -- she claimed to be allergic to plastic but I wonder if it is really latex she is allergic to. She reacts horribly to band aids and says the reaction that gave her the most trouble was when she sat on a plastic toilet seat...

Best of luck to you! Thanks for sharing in this very informative review!

I'm still learning. There is so much to know since latex is in all sort of products that you wouldn't expect.
