I've had a pair of NEOS Traveler overshoes for about 10-15 years. Style TN1. They might be the original NEOS overshoes, but I'm not sure. The Traveler is no longer made, and the Villager appears to be it's closest cousin. I believe I bought mine online direct from the maker at www.overshoe.com
Over the years, I have walked, taken the bus, subway and commuter train to and from work. Having lived and worked around D.C., Harrisburg (Pennsylvania) and now Seattle, snow is a reality.
As a kid, I used any number of rubber overshoes my parents bought. I found them all a chore to put on and remove, leaky, or both. The NEOS Traveler overshoes seal well and are relatively easy to put on and remove. I wear a size 12 shoe and my NEOS Travelers are size XL.
I have a good pair of Gore-Tex light hiking boots and gaiters, and they've kept me comfortable and dry on and off the trail. Before I got my NEOS Travelers, I used my boots and gaiters a few times in bad weather. Gaiters work well, but they are a bit more work to put on and remove. And without some sort of waterproof treatment or membrane for one's shoes, gaiters alone are useless.
The Traveler is very lightweight and doesn't have a lot of bulky or heavy insulating material, but it still makes one's feet a fair bit warmer. I'd guess they add 10 to 15 degrees of warmth.
My only "complaint", such as it is, would be that my Travelers are still in such great shape that I really cannot justify buying a new pair of NEOS overshoes with Stabilicers.
NEOS is to snow tires as NEOS Stabilicers are to studded tires.
If I were buying new, I would definitely get a pair with Stabilicers.
