ALWAYS(until I saw this list)the best "A Christmas Carol" (Reply to this comment)
by stampschick
The version of "A Christmas Carol" that always made EVERY list of top 10 Christmas movies of all time(except THIS one)is the 1951 Alistair Sim version, which happens to be my very favorite version, too. Scrooge is very believable in that one--not a caricature, as other versions have him portrayed. The only exception that I have seen, other than the Alistair Sim version, is the George C. Scott portrayal. No heavy makeup, no screwing up of the facial muscles to create a mean look. These two made Scrooge not only mean and miserly, but cold and calculating as well. In short, portrayals you can actually BELIEVE.

I agree with all of your movie choices, except the Christmas Carol choice. When it comes to Charles Dickens classic novel, I feel it is best portrayed in Albert Finney's version. I definitely find this version to be the most entertaining by far.

Something Wrong (Reply to this comment)

Good List but the 1938 A Christmas Carol was not the original. There were a few versions made BEFORE 1938 so the '38 version, again, isn't the original.
Merry Christmas!

"A Year without Santa Claus" is an all-time classic that you missed - but the rest of your list is spot on. Nice job.

A Christmas Story . . . (Reply to this comment)

has long been a personal favorite. It's become family tradition to watch this one every year since the first time we watched it and several of us literally fell on the floor we were laughing so uncontrollably.

A Christmas Story (Reply to this comment)

The actual story was written by Truman Capote, I think, and I still haven't seen it. I will! Good list mainly.

All Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!! A Christmas Movie List!!! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
Love this generous slice of holiday spirit here in the first week of November!
I think you know me pretty well and wouldn't DARE not include It's A Wonderful Life lest I not only rate/re-rate everything you've written as not helpful but, also, would write a letter to Santa telling him to leave coal and switches at your house and poop down your chimney!
Oh yes: ITA with your list when it comes to the quality of these movies and how it just wouldn't be the same without them!
Happy Holy-days!!!

... I am having such a hard time rating this. I mean a Christmas list that doesn't include The Year Without a Santa Claus on it?
