Ah I forgot to mention that the titles the I reccomended are for you and aren't really titles that I think your son should watch or would be able to follow even if he did watch.

Ah, We actually purchased Nausica the day it came out, and we both loved it, just didn't quite make the top ten. We also saw The Cat Returns. It was whimsical, and I enjoyed Peter Boyles dub as Muta. My son also cracked up becasue Muta looks a lot like our white cat. I will check the other ones out! Thanks!

For yourself I would reccomend... (and I'm just going down my list so these aren't in any particular order)

Aquarian Age: The Movie
Nausicaa Of The Valley of The Wind (A Ghibli film that I think your son could watch too)
The Cat Returns (More Ghibli)
Interlude (If you can find it)
La Portrait de Petite Cossette

Going by your list it seems that you're a fan of drama titles and all of these (aside from the Ghibli) are very well done drama titles that really captivated me when I saw them.

So?..... make your suggestions! Thats what epinions is all about right? I'm a movie buff, and anime is one genre of movies I enjoy, but I'm not really into animated series (i.e. volumes of half hour shows) You, I can see from your reviews are very into anime. What are a few of your favorite stand alone movies? What would you recommend my son and I watch? If I haven't seen it, I'll put it on my Netflix queue and tell you what we thought?

Got some good stuff on this list but it's terribly incomplete. I'm not saying the stuff you have on your list here is bad but I can name a dozen more off the top of my head that are better and deserve your attention if you're into these types of titles.

Have you heard of "Animusic" ?
If you haven't seen it,I highly suggest getting the DVD

Its computer generated music and the instruments are computer created and they play themselfs.
You got to see it to believe it. Its very new and innovative.
