'Buried Treasure' Write-OffDec 14 '05 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line I think I am growing into the shoes. For those that dont know me, Im Black Star 40, a semi-newcomer to the site this year (well, I joined three months ago), who is now growing to be constantly impressed by the amount of pure talent circulating in the throngs of this hyperspace. Every so often a character, with the whirring, buzzing gears of their creative minds, invents an idea for what is commonly termed a write-off, where a handful of interested members writes a piece on that given topic, shall we say. Ive had the chance to participate in a few ingenious write-offs myself this year, and, as the story goes, Im easily made envious, so Ive decided, after many hours of careful brain-racking, to come up with one myself, though I wont be so arrogant as to call it ingenious. ANYWAY, ENOUGH ABOUT ME, AS IT YOU I AM INTERESTED IN HERE Yes. Because I have so many albums tucked away that, unless I motivate myself enough, Ill probably never get around to reviewing, Ive called this little spin-off the Buried Treasure write-off, and Ive tried to make it as broadly catering as possible to anyone out there who doesnt mind condescending enough to write an album review for this humble little window of opportunity, even though its for my sake as much as yours. If you wish, you can take part in this write-off for any of three reasons. 1. You have a forgotten album, buried somewhere underneath more popular material, that youve always wanted to get out and review, but havent found an appropriate time and place for it. 2. You have a long-lost LP from your past, that youd care to review if you found it, or bothered to look for it, simply for old times sake. 3. And this is the main reason for the whole thing. Theres an album that you really love, but have always found it hard-going when you sat down to review it, simply because you adore it so much! This write-off, I suppose, is about summoning up the courage to write that review. So, they are the three (I think) examples of why this Buried Treasure write-off may or may not interest you. If you are interested, and I sincerely hope you are, please feel free to email me or comment here about questions / entries / feedback happy for your opinion. Its open for anyone, no invitation need, and theres no rush shall we say the closing date will be mid-February of next year? Yours sincerely, Black Star 40 |
