SIR CAM? (Reply to this comment)

S-I-R C-A-M? What does that stand for? I too have been through the long troubleshooting scenerio, but with a different vendor (Compaq)..I would try these steps with one customer service rep, then call back to get a different customer service rep (who had to review the history of our open ticket) and try more steps. This can be a tedious and confusing process. You've made it through the process though it was at the expense of your data; congratulations! :)
Hey, about those keys that are wearing out. What you need is those military-grade titanium keys that were presented in that Jack-n-the-Box commercial..oooOOOOO! LOL! just kidding! I hope that you've seen that commercial..it was pretty funny..Jack goes to his vendor taking with him his register keys (buttons) that are all worn out and seeks for some replacements or a resolution.
Anyway, thank you for your great review. I'm considering purchasing the Inspiron 8100 at this time and your writeup is very helpful.

Go XP (Reply to this comment)

Since WindowsXP is available, my Inspiron4000 works alot better (with few incompatibilities), I only had a lot of trouble with ME on this Dell.
Anyway, good review and thanks for the insight on customer service.

A very thorough review... (Reply to this comment)

...I don't know if I would have used ME as my operating system, but that's between you and Dell. My Dell desktop doesn't enjoy ME very much, and you can't use it to network worth a, err, fig, but hopefully your experience will differ.
Best,
Joubert
