Pros:2 way messaging, upgradeable software, affordable (where i purchased it)

The Bottom Line: Just check out www.surplustexas.com for the deal I got and www.motorola.com for the Motorola PageWriter 2000x's specs. You won't be sorry.

I recently upgraded from my Motorola T-900 2way pager to the Motorola PageWriter 2000x. And I must admit the two are in world of their own.

For information about the T-900, please read my review on it.

I purchased the Motorola PageWriter 2000x about a month ago. This device is almost like having a pc on your hip. Of course, you can send/recieve text messages. But the Motorola PageWriter 2000x's featues also include an address book with nine fields of info per contact, easy access to important pager info such as memroy available, battery strength, and pager mode (full (2way), basic (just recieve messages)), and a partner program which syncronizes info between your pager and pc. With this program, you can make back up copies of your contacts, message, programs installed on your pager, add and update your pager's software, and have a quick veiw of memory available. And if you already have the Motorola PageWriter 2000x, you can easily upgrade to the Timeport P935 by purchasing a separate upgrade cd from Motorola.

You also get an alarm clock, a to do manager, a scheduling program, a notepad, and a neat program called Alert2000. With this ap, you can create your own alerts instead using the ones standard on the pager. There are websites, such as www.2wayalert.com where you can download new ringers onto your pager.

Many would say that this pager is very expensive, about $319-$330. But if you're like me, you like to find a good deal. If you go to www.surplustexas.com, you can buy a brand new PageWriter 2000x for only $189. They have pagewriters set up on the PageNet (now Arch Wireless) and Skytel systems. In my opinion, Arch has better coverage if you are not familiar with their system. But hurry, their inventory is limited. Bottom line, the PageWriter one of the best 2way communication devices out on the market. For more specifics, check out www.motorola.com.
