I have been buying my CD's from CD NOW for the past two years now. I know I know. I COULD just go down the road to the local Mall and purchase my CD's from one of their small stores but believe it or not I have no time for such a thing. I know I could make the time, but why? Since CD NOW can mail it to me within a few days I wouldn’t have to keep telling myself, "Oh I forgot to buy that CD," or, "I really want to buy that CD." Yes, I am lazy and yes, CD NOW is cheaper for me.
The last time I brought 3 CD's from CD NOW (Enya's "A Day without Rain", The Cure's "Show", and Filter's latest) I got each and every one of these for a less price than if I just went to the store nearby and bought them. I didn’t just start buying from CD NOW, I made lots of comparisons. Let me tell you the last time (it was so long ago) I went to the local store (ex. The Wall) I found that CD's that aren’t on sale are priced extremely high. If I were to buy the same CD's that I bought on CD NOW at the local store, it would cost me at least 5% more. As an example, the Enya CD I bought cost me around 15.00$ whereas if I went to The Wall it would at least cost me around 18-19$. At the same time, I have to point out that if a CD just came out, your better off buying it from your local store because CD NOW would offer you pretty much the same price - adding to it the price of shipping which is another 4$ if its standard.
I won’t go into shipping too much in this review because I think that depends on the person. As I mentioned earlier, I'm lazy when it comes to going to and fro malls just to get one or two things (I feel like a guy saying this) but I really do get bored and feel like its a hassle (I'd rather be cleaning my canaries cage!) then go and buy small items that I want and need (body, mind, and soul). The prices of shipping range from 2-4$ with standard shipping; 5-7$ for 2-day shipping; 9-11$ for 1-day or overnight shipping.
So if your willing to pay one or two extra dollars, and get a deal on the CD of your choice, with buying it over the internet rather than going to the store close buy, then CD NOW would be the best online store to use.
Once you set up an account, they give you email notices of deals they have, new CD's that have been released, and sometimes free shipping.
The only other online store I bought CD's from is "www.half.com". I bought a CD from that website for my friend's birthday for half the original price mainly because I was buying from another person through "half.com". I was fully satisfied with that website, but I find it better for me to buy directly from a company rather than from another person. Although my experience with the website was terrific, I browsed through the website reading reviews of other people's experiences when dealing with some sellers and found some to be disturbing.
One more thing that makes me stick with CD NOW is the accuracy and timeliness of shipping. Whenever I buy a CD I know it will come within a few days (I normally pick standard shipping). And throughout I receive a shipping order #, the day my order was sent and when I should be expecting to receive my order. HOW NICE! Not many online websites can tell you that much without doing some research.
