Social Security (Reply to this comment)
by Arthur.Rubin
Fraudulent activity associated with the social security number will be indicated on the report.
Not legally, it won't. A credit check may indicate fraudulent credit applications associated with the social security number, but the SSA will not release any such information.
(You forgot the credit check -- which is legal, provided the applicant agrees.)

It is amazing what some of the students here tell you when applying for student worker, graduate assistant positions! I've learned you can't trust anyone anymore.
Thanks for reading and commenting!

If and when I decide to hire employees I am definitely going to do background checks. So many people lie on their resumes and noone even checks basic references anymore.
I also think background checks are a good thing when deciding whether or not to date someone..hey you never know!
Very helpful review
