The Bottom Line Excellent concept somewhat disappointing in implementation.
There's nothing to lose with a trial membership though.

I bought a DVD player just to take advantage of this great idea: movies in the mail and return them when I feel like it? What a marvelous deal!
With the easy to use website I had no problem signing up. I got the movies I asked for; had scads of choices; nifty little envelope for returning movie.
Unfortunately slow mail time and poorly trained (or immature) customer service reps really jam up this great system.
Movies are VERY slow in transit. Basically for $19.95 I got only 6 movies within my first 30 day trial period. I returned ALL the movies I received within 24 hours. So the cost is about $3.33/movie, right? IF you return it THE NEXT DAY!
Perhaps more locations nationwide will ensure that all customers can get movies within the 2-4 days they advertise. Also the US mail is not at its best right now, is it.
My two experiences with customer service were completely frustrating. I asked an email question about which DVD player would be best for their movie formats. Dumb question I know but I would not have minded a personalized response of ANY kind even if it were, "We can't answer questions about DVD players." But the answer I got? They sent me the "Try it for free for 30 days" advertisement. No reference to my question.
The second email question I asked, about 2 weeks later, was "Why is it taking so long for you to receive and credit my returned movies?" They quoted me the contents of a "Help" screen I had already read, again with no reference to my question. I re-worded the email and sent it again; they sent the "Help" screen again.
I will probably give them one more month and if there are no improvements I'll cancel and give DVDBarn a try.
