St. Ives Clear Pore Body Wash - Refreshing

Written: Nov 09 '01 (Updated Nov 09 '01)
Pros:works well, contains tea tree oil, inexpensive
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: This body wash has a clean fresh scent, works great and is very inexpensive.

During the summer months, I tend to develop mild acne on my back and shoulders. A friend of mine heard of my dilemma and suggested that I try St. Ives Clear Pore Body Wash. I knew of the St. Ives product line as I had used their facial scrub in the past, but didn’t know that they also produced a body wash. I went to the nearest drug store and found the product. A 13.5 fl. Oz. bottle was only $2.99.

The product is packaged in a clear plastic flip top bottle, and is green I color. On the front of the bottle, St. Ives claims that “this oil-free formula clarifies pores to keep skin fresh and clear.” On the back of the bottle they go on to say that “pores all over your body can get clogged with dirt and oils. St. Ives Clear Pore Body Wash with tea tree is naturally effective and 100% oil-free, so it keeps skin fresh and clear from head to toe.” The key word here is Tea Tree.

Tea Tree is a pure oil that comes from the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia tree, which is primarily found in Australia. This oil is widely known to be antibacterial in nature and is recognized as an antiseptic by the FDA. It is used as a topical agent for the skin for minor cuts, rashes, stings, & blemishes. Tea tree oil is very similar to benzoyl peroxide, but doesn’t leave the skin as dry.

I tried the product out that night. When I flipped the top, I didn’t realize that the hole in the cap was so large, so too much came out. Other than that the product worked great. It has a clean fresh scent which is surprising because tea tree products usually smell pretty bad. It foamed up well and rinsed off clean leaving my skin feeling pretty soft. With continued use, the product seemed to keep my acne in check.

St. Ives has produced another great product! I will definitely buy this product again, and I highly recommend it to others. It works, and is very affordable.
