The Godfather has to be #1. "Sammy The Bull" Gravano himself was amazed at how realistic it was, so that's an excellent pick. But I must be in a minority here, because I think Scarface is a piece of shit. And the film adaptation of Donnie Brasco is far removed from the book. But the other picks are good.

AHA, I'm abit late on this but your list is well done, and our opinions are alike with a few notable differences.

I can tell your a mafia buff who knows his stuff. I have seen all of the films u mentioned save that japanese one, which sounds like a movie i need to find. I felt mean streets had less of a mafia theme and more of a gritty New York feel such as Taxi and Raging Bull (where is this mans oscar already). As for Once upon a time in America, this is a movie I cannot get my hands on, I remember watching it a while back and it was raw, very raw but i really should order it off the internet of something because I am not too familiar with it anymore.

Road to Perdition is a great movie, which you should watch some time if you have not, although it cannot compete with the others on the list. As for Godfather 3, I can see why most think of it as far inferior to the originals, yet I'm bias to the Corleone saga, and the film could of been complete crap and I would still love it.

Thanks for the comments bros,

Ciao

Bdog aka the italian stallion... how delightful of you to make this fine list. I think we'll have to have a competition to see who's the bigger mobster movie fan seeing i've reviewed 6 out of the 10 you've listed haha. I honestly cannot argue with your list though at all. Here's mine...

10. Casino (Lots and lots of blood, could have done with seeing Pesci getting head TWICE)

9. Donnie Brasco (Pacino and Depp... fughedaboudit)

8. Bronx Tale (If only Lilo Brancota took Robert Deniro's advice in real life....)

7. Brother (Kitano directed flick showing the Japanese mob is just as ruthless as the italians featuring car bombs, vendettas, message jobs, shootouts... Kitano is a major bad @ss as the main character)

6. Once Upon a Time in New York (Underrated Deniro movie which may have given Goodfellas a run for its money had it not been for two very graphic rape scenes)

5. Carlitos Way (Jay-z got half his album intros from this movie)

4. Scarface (Larger than life Pacino)

3. Mean Streets (VERY underrated Scorcese film, with a young Deniro stealing every scene he's in)

2. Goodfellas (Tommy being 'made' to 'Layla' playing in the background is beautiful)

1. Godfather I and II (im too much of a wimp to choose between them. Pacino, DeNiro, Brando, and Duvall combine for SEVEN best actor awards i think. No other movie has such likable side characters, Clemenza, Tessio, Hyman Roth, Paulie, Frank Pentangeli, Luca Brasi, Neri, Rocco, and Sollozzo. WOW.)
