I ordered a notebook case from Overstock, and when I received it, it was a book bag. I immediately called and was told that they would e-mail me a return shipping slip -but that because they only had 5 left, I should order another notebook case in the interim. The customer service rep assured me that they would refund my money on the first wrong order as soon as they received it. She also assured me that this mistake would not happen again. So I ordered another.
One week later my package is opened and yes, I received a notebook case -- but not the one advertised - doesn't even resemble the one they pictured, not even the same brand. This is a cheap knock off.
I was furious! However, I was very nice when I called again for the second time. The rep asked me to e-mail her a photo and a complaint to her and the company. I did and she responded by assuring me that management would do something about this, she apologized and that she would personally call me within two days to let me know what was going on. After four days I e-mailed her to ask if she found out anything. That was five days ago and she still has not responded.
It gets worse. The back pack package that was returned, they refused to sign for it. Therefore it is being returned to me from UPS.
After reading other negative responses on Epinions, I've realized that my situation is not an accident on their part. They know what is going on. They clearly misrepresent their merchandise. If you are willing to take a chance on receiving an item that you did not order, then I say, splurge. I would never recommend Overstock again due to their poor customer service practices and deliberate misrepresentation. I will call Monday (since they are closed on the weekend); I know my call will be fruitless.
Tip: If you have problems with them and call a customer service rep - get their name. If you call back and ask to speak to that person, they will tell you, "Oh, she/he is not in today/or just left." Tell them,"Hmmm, I was just speaking with her and got disconnected."
...That's what really happened to me. I did get disconnected and they flat-out lied and said that she wasn't there when I called right back. This proves that they have a lot of problems and they want to avoid you.
