Missed a few (Reply to this comment)

Strange that Sound of Music was not in top 10. I would put that at the top, even. You certainly should have included West Side Story. Hard to imagine any list without those two. I would disagree with Rent as well. I have a personal preference for Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady. I would pick those over Rent, Newsies (though I love Newsies) and Moulin Rouge. Mary Poppins, anyone?

Nice list! (Reply to this comment)

You really have a great eye for movies and I'm so glad you include old movies, too. I think we all owe a little something to Yul Brynner, Deborah Karr, Julie Andrews, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, etc. We agree on so much of those! I was literally jumping for joy when Chicago won Best Picture! I can't wait to see more of your reviews & thanks for the list. There were a few on there I haven't seen, but based on your review, they're now on my to do list (like Rent & Oliver).

We'll see what I come up with, I was drafting my own musical list but I can tell you it's gonna be a bit different! Some great choices :) You'll have to find out which ones whenever I write up my list!

I look forward to seeing your list :)

My list, though, would include A Hard Day's Night. That stands above any other rock musical. I could never understand the appeal of Moulin Rouge, though. Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Pat

Honestly I had a hard time with The Beatles movies. Maybe it is just because I wasn't part of their Generation. I love their music, and could listen to it anytime, but their movies just didn't work for me.

I love Moulin Rouge a lot, but Rent is moving up there fast. I think I could end up in the minority of people that love that movie, but I am willing to admit to it :) (Unlike Stephen who will probably list Grease 2 on his list ;)

Which ones do you loathe? I am guessing it is the ones with kids as the lead singers. ;)

A list (Reply to this comment)

that puzzlingly combines some movies that I like and some that I loathe, and leaves out my favorite, "Cabaret."
