I agree with you about doctors that have questionable practices and ideas. Do they have different points of view that are sincere, or do they even care?
Who knows?
I know that it could have easily went the other way for me. If I had done what some of the doctors suggested I'd be dead. This is especially true of Dr Terjanian, this is the same doctor that treated George Harrison at SIUH, and we all know what happened to him unfortunately.

For every good, highly qulified doctor who's practicing, there are probably 2-3 who shouldn't be.

Your ordeal sounds really frightening. Everybody fears the "C word". I've never had cancer myself but a couple of times, I thought I might and it's really an unpleasant thing to contemplate. The depression and anxiety is something I think a lot of people don't have an appreciation of. Psychological scars can hurt as badly as physical ones.

Glad you made it. This was a good, sobering article.

That was a very moving story. I commend you for how you dealt with the overload of new information especially during what must have been an emotional time. I'm so happy for you that you now have a son and the cancer is behind you. ~Mia

I have a friend who five years ago thought he had a bad cold, which turned out to be not pneumonia but lung cancer. The lost one third of a lung and curses the day he ever smoked. Actually, he had quit 10 years prior to this cancer.

Like everyone else that has written, I am amazed by your brutal honesty within sharing this story. It was very well written and emotional to read as well. I am sending a link to all male family members and friends so that they will learn from your experience and thoughts. Thank you.

and thank you for sharing it with us. I am so glad it all worked out for you. I presently am a medical secretary for an oncologist in Los Angeles, but haven't run into anyone with testicular cancer here.

I did date someone who told me in front of several other people that he had had testicular cancer in his late 20's as you did, but I met him several years later and he was fine.

I really liked him, but unfortunately he moved out of state after we'd just dated a month or so.

This story is a variation of my aunts current battle with breast cancer and my scare with it as well. Congratulations on your victory.

I too heard the same response "Cancer doesnt hurt" You had a ballache, I had a boobache. Our bodies hurt to let us know something isnt right.

Your story is an inspiration to me, and I hope I am lucky enough to have more children when I am through with my battle.
Thank You for writing this, I relate to all of it, the emotions, the hospital stays, except the penis part...

I hope you're both right. I decided to write it because I know these younger men especially wouldn't choose to get diagnosed on their own. So my prayer is that helps at least one person. Thanks for the kind words.

I agree totally with Barbara. Men are generally reluctant to share health issues. By sharing your experiences, you may well help somebody else down the road. Thank you.
