The Bottom Line Valentine's Day is a great excuse to enjoy a good love story!

I’m a sucker for a romantic “chick flick.” Although it was hard, I was able to narrow my list down to my 10 favorite movies, perfect for a romantic Valentine’s Day. In no particular order...

Sleepless in Seattle
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks share the screen for just a few minutes in this romantic comedy but it is still a wonderful love story. Tom Hanks plays a widowed father whose young son thinks needs a new wife and tells the whole country when he calls up a radio talk show on Christmas Eve. It’s a completely predictable but cute movie that might make you believe in fate.

While You Were Sleeping
This movie stars Sandra Bullock who works as a token taker who has fallen “in love” with a passenger she sees everyday, Peter Gallagher. A series of misunderstandings leads everyone, including Gallagher’s family, to believe Bullock and Gallager are engaged. Although the premise is outlandish this is a sweet movie about finding love.

The Truth About Cats and Dogs
Jeannine Garafolo and Uma Thurman play best friends in this very funny takeoff of the classic Cyranno De Bergerac. Bryan, played by Ben Chaplin, falls in love with Garafolo after talking to her on the phone, but he thinks the voice belongs with Thurman body. When the charade goes too far can the friendship and love survive?

The Goodbye Girl
Richard Dreyfuss won an Oscar for the Goodbye Girl starting opposite Marsha Mason. Through a series of unfortunate events Dreyfuss, Mason and her young daughter Lucy (Quinn Cummings) are forced to share a New York City apartment. Hate eventually blossoms into love in the this sharp and witty screenplay written by Neil Simon.

The American President
Can you be President of the United States and go out on a date? You can if you are Michael Douglas and you have your eye on Annette Bening. I love the dry humor in this movie and Douglas and Bening have amazing on screen chemistry. This movie shows that love can conquer all.

An Affair to Remember
One of my favorite movies, Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr star in this romantic drama. The two meet on a cruise ship and fall in love despite plans to wed others once they return home. They decide to meet 6 months later at the top of the Empire State Building, but an accident keeps Kerr from keeping the appointment. A movie about pride getting in the way of love.

Doc Hollywood
Michael J. Fox plays a doctor heading out to California for a lucrative career as a plastic surgeon. He takes an unplanned side trip to Grady, South Carolina where he meets an eccentric cast of small town locals. Can the love of a good women win out over the lure of Hollywood?

Shakespeare in Love
Sometimes love isn’t enough. This fictitious tale of how Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet stars Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow. This is a fun romantic movie with an interesting plot that is more than boy gets girl.

Circle of Friend
Set in 1950s Ireland this is a coming-of-age story about about friendship and love. Minnie Driver and Chris O'Donnell star in this sweet, slow passed drama about forgiveness and Catholic guilt, love and loss, in the lives of this group of friends.

Peggy Sue Got Married
If you had a chance to relive your life would you make different choices? This comedy, staring Kathleen Turner and Nicolas Cage, gives Turner’s character the chance to change her life. A heart attack at a class reunion sends her back in time where she gets to re-examine many of the relationships in her life, including her high school sweetheart/husband.
