Now how do you pronounce "THPS2" and make it sound like "f-u-n"?

Pros: Fun fun fun!
Cons: Um.... makes skating look much easier than it is. ;) Custom parks are dirty.
The Bottom Line: This is just a kick to play. The park editor has its share of problems, but if you're tired of RPG's (I know I am!), this is just the cure.

| ljordon's Full Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (Mac) |
I downloaded the demo to see if it'll run well on my revA iBook, and I found myself spending hours at a time playing those two-minute single sessions in the hangar! So, I bought the darned thing.
Goodness gracious, this is fun. Tricks are easy enough, but still require some form of skill to land them consistently. The range of available tricks is astounding, and the Gap Checklist for the areas are huge -- if you want to truly find everything in the game, you'll be playing long after you've completed all tasks for each level.
Movies, decks, cheats, and such are available to finishing the career mode with each skater. You'll also notice a few references to Marvel Comics -- I won't spoil the surprise for you. ;)
The park editor shows a lot of promise, with many, many pieces available to use. There are already a LOT of pre-made custom parks that exist on their own, not as part of the career mode. HOWEVER, there are clipping and collision problems with some pieces and in some parks (picnic tables that are immune to grinds, holes in floors, etc.), and a couple parks are rendered unplayable. None of these problems exist in the career areas, but the value of the custom park editor is diminished.
Get a gamepad of some sort. I've been using a Gravis GamePad Pro, and it's a naturally great match -- the game was originally a Playstation title, and the Gravis pad is functionally identical to a PS controller. Unfortunately, true analog control, as with a Macally iShock, is apparently unsupported.
The lack of analog control (minor) and the sloppiness of the custom editor (nearly major) keep this from getting 5 stars from me.
