On March 2, 2009 I made telephone reservations for a round-trip flight from New York to Las Vegas, along with hotel reservations. I was verbally told that the reservations were confirmed, and later received an e-mail containing all the details. I double-checked to ensure that my credit card company paid the full amount on March 2, and they did. On March 8, 2009, I noticed something odd on Travelocity's website; there was no mention of my reservations. I called to find out what the problem was; I was told that "the airline cancelled your reservations due to nonpayment." When I pointed out that I was never informed of this "fact", and that payment had in fact been made, I was told that "we'll arrange a refund with your bank." I called my bank a few days later, and confirmed that no one at Travelocity had ever contacted them. Fortunately, since I paid with a credit card, I was able to get the charges removed from my card -- no thanks to Travelocity! These thieves took my money, confirmed my reservations verbally and by e-mail, and then never made the reservations. They never tried to inform me that there was a "problem", and they made no effort to explain how any of this had happened. Obviously, they couldn't care less if they screwed me. Only by writing to the Better Business Bureau was I able to obtain a grudging acknowledgement from the corporate weasels in Fort Worth that "we'll refund your money" --- after it had already been taken care of. It's unbelievable to me how brazen their incompetence and hypocrisy really is; even more incredible is how they are able to survive in such a competitive market. I hope that my experience will help other potential victims steer well clear of these shysters.
