Good List!! (Reply to this comment)
by davidp24
I haven't seen most of the movies on your list, so I couldn't even begin to make such a list. However, I would put The Notebook as #1, A Walk to Remember as #2, and I guess Titanic is as good as any as #3. I did see Ever After a few years ago but I don't remember it being worthy of your high ranking. But I certainly enjoyed reading your list.

What an interesting... (Reply to this comment)

list! I hadn't thought of Doc Hollywood in ages. I actually really like it -- I think the dance scene to Patsy Cline's "Crazy" is a great romantic moment.
I'd probably add While You Were Sleeping. And how about Roman Holiday? That's one of my very favorites.

I thought about Woody Allen, and I love Annie Hall but I don't see that as Romantic enough, maybe because Woody Allen isn't that great a romantic leading man, he's more of a comic - if I'm in the mood to laugh - I'll pull out Annie Hall or Bullets Over Broadway, if I'm in the mood for a love story, then When Harry Met Sally or Fools Rush In will be the choice.
Dirty Dancing is not a favorite movie of mine. That is strictly "chick-flick" - a female fantasy that my brain cannot wrap itself around - and Risky Business? Would that qualify as a romance? Who was Tom Cruise's love interest, Booger from Revenge of the Nerds?
Thanks for the comment Diana

Enjoyed reading this, but I would personally have to add some others:
1. Some of the Woody Allen classics, such as Annie Hall and Manhattan.
2. Also, no list of romantic films would be complete, at least to this New York chick, without Dirty Dancing.
3. Although perhaps not in the classic Romance genre, Risky Business has major romantic elements to it, too.
Just my two cents,
Diana

Where in the heck is Casablanca?
Would you believe I haven't seen this yet? I was just telling my wife that we have to see this and Gone With The Wind which is just sitting in my DVD collection waiting to be viewed.

Hi Mike.
Hey, great job here. I always like these types of pieces. I should participate.
The reason for the comment is some of your choices. Actually, you struck a chord with me when you nominated "Doc Hollywood." Michael J. Fox has been one of my favorite actors since I got hooked growing up watching Family Ties and Back to the Future. Doc Hollywood is one of my favorite movies. One of my favorite parts of that movie is when he first hits the road, and that song "I'm the one and only" comes on. I have that on MP3. I'm not sure if that's the title. I'd have to check my library. But that gets the adrenaline going, doesn't? MJF just exudes confidence.
Other common interests include The Notebook, and When Harry Met Sally. The Notebook should be on everybody's list. It's the best romantic film I've seen in many, many years and one of the best films I've seen, period. It gets attacked by a fiew critics because of the age-old "from the wrong side of the tracks" plot line, but with the outstanding acting, the plot twists, the scenery, it's just outstanding. When Harry Met Sally is a great movie, but I think there are others that I would put ahead as more "romantic." But I absolutely love WHMS.
However, I have to pick on you a bit here. Where in the heck is Casablanca? No all-time romantic films list can omit this classic. I would put it at the top of my list. I don't think that film can be beat.
Great job. Brad.

An interesting list. I prefer the romantic films with the theme of trying over and over until you get it right like 'Ground Hog Day' and '50 First Dates'.
Good job!
