Chris,
I take it this classic didn't make this list but it's just too different to the thousands of other romance films out there.
Absolutely. In a class by itself, you might say.
I mean, come on. They even drink in a coffee shop calling Serendipity. It gives the film a double-barreled meaning, how can you not love that?
I do love it. I love it so much that I'm going to move to NYC and do nothing but shop for gloves, every single day. My soul mate must be out there somewhere! I'm on my way, soul mate, I'm on my waaaaaaayyyy!
I expect a swift edit asap.
No can do. I have a soul mate to locate.
I know why you put Secretary in there though. Brought back some joyful memories of our times together. It'll never be as good as the real thing though, Sue.
True enough, on both counts. Some day you'll come back to me and we can count peas in bliss once more. Until then, please have one scoop of mashed potatoes in my honor. You know you want to......

Paul,
but how about SOMEWHERE IN TIME, the little known 1980 gem that starred Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour; a movie that has become a cult classic?
That one would have to go into the honorable mentions, because it's been a looooong time since I saw it! It shows up pretty frequently on the movie channels, though, I think - I'll have to try and catch it.

Pippa,
You know, I thought of you when I saw the ads for the latest Depp flick. NC-17? I'm a little scared to see it. Then I'm cleaning out my email and there is this comment. How would an NC-17 fit on this proposed station?
I don't know of this movie. Why don't I know of this movie?!? It's the fault of the DVR - I never see any ads! You must tell me of this NC-17 Depp extravaganza.
As far as the station - it would be reserved for only the deserving. Us.
I'm in home improvement mode, and I read that you can pull up floor tiles by using one of these. I'll have to let you know if it works...my poor iron may come out of hiding just yet!
I actually just used mine! You know those Perler bead things? You arrange them in a pattern and then iron them and they stick together? Used it on those. Yeah, it was for an eight-year-old, but it still counts as ironing.
Oh! I'd be scared to do that! What if I forget the kids and miss preschool pick-up? Wait... they have hubby's cell phone number...
I actually got an alarm clock for the family room. It was a beautiful thing.
As soon as I can find any of the actual pr0n we own in the database. I must have a latent prudish streak that prevents me from submitting an SAP for some unknown reason.
Well, since I would get the SAP, you have nothing to worry about. I know you'd only be reviewing it for the betterment of porn consumers everywhere. I wonder what the porn addition guidelines are? I'll have to check that out.....

Oh man! I forgot about the slasher flick! You're right, there has to be some selectivity. I think it would be best if he just came to live with me. I'll give you joint custody!

Ironing? Oh, that thing with the hot flat metal doo-hickey! Right! Haven't seen one of those in years.

The first time I had two whole hours I didn't actually know what to do with it. I spent most of it watching the clock to see how much of it was left. Now I know better and take the nap right away.

Ah, but they are! Well, the softer types at least. I think those reviews do bring in huge outside hits. So when can we expect that first review?

Marie,
I think my allergy fit has finally calmed down. Took a few days. Sheesh. I hate when that happens.
You know what you're allergic to, don't you? Too much work.
Least the hours at work are getting more normal...so hopefully will have time to see some new movies again.
Man, I can't seem to get to a new movie ever! One of these days perhaps I'll see the inside of a theater again.....;)

Beth,
a marvelously atypical list, not at all what I was expecting!
heheheheheheheh....
Expect the unexpected.......;)
I love that you included Harold and Maude. Funny but true story, many years ago now, on the night we got engaged, my soon to be husband and I were choosing videos with my parents for watching later. What we managed to agree on, for some strange reason, were *Harold and Maude* and *The Princess Bride.*
Oh, those are great movies! I haven't seen The Princess Bride in ages, I would love to see it again.
My parents had no clue that we were planning to announce our engagement prior to the pizza and video evening they'd wanted to have with us. Now we forever have Harold and Maude as part of our engagement memories! (And how weird is that!)
Harold and Maude would be honored. And you have sword fights in there too!
Great list!
Thank you kindly!

In that case, the work week should go down to one day.

Pippa,
The first step is admitting you have a problem.
Yep. Dorks Anonymous for me, Dork-Anon for the rest of the family. It's a heavy burden they bear.....
I think that was also the Freddy movie era. How about the two of us select the movies we like (please, God, not The Man Who Cried and play them on infinite loop? Or maybe just Depp on Demand.
Oh man! I forgot about the slasher flick! You're right, there has to be some selectivity. I think it would be best if he just came to live with me. I'll give you joint custody!
Yeah, I know. No one warned us that once you have ANOTHER child you'll wish you could take all those precious seconds of sleep wasted on things like movie rentals and ironing.
Ironing? Oh, that thing with the hot flat metal doo-hickey! Right! Haven't seen one of those in years.
Someday... actually, in September, I will have a full two hours to myself once a week! What will I DO with two whole hours???
The first time I had two whole hours I didn't actually know what to do with it. I spent most of it watching the clock to see how much of it was left. Now I know better and take the nap right away.
You know, I've been meaning to bring that up... shouldn't most pr0n titles be reviewable? Note to self...when attending a MnG, ask Eps why so little pr0n is available for review... there's BIG MONEY in those reviews...
Ah, but they are! Well, the softer types at least. I think those reviews do bring in huge outside hits. So when can we expect that first review?
Sue? You arne't supposed to wait for a man. Consider this the memo.
I only wish I'd known sooner. It would have saved me all that time staring longingly from my castle window, waiting for my prince to arrive.
Sigh. Live and learn.....

I'm copying this list down to take to the video store so me and my husband won't stand there like a couple of mugs and do our usual Larry & Moe routine: 'So what do you wanna watch?'
We do that all the time - and we have Netflix! So we're going round and round about which of the three movies we currently have to watch. So sad.....;)
Thanks so much!

I didn't really watch that show, from when he was young and girly looking. Maybe it could be the All Depp Movie Channel?
I think that was also the Freddy movie era. How about the two of us select the movies we like (please, God, not The Man Who Cried and play them on infinite loop? Or maybe just Depp on Demand.
Ahahahahahahahahaaaa.....oh, you weren't kidding. We did nothing but try desperately to fit in more that 20 minutes of sleep at a time.
Yeah, I know. No one warned us that once you have ANOTHER child you'll wish you could take all those precious seconds of sleep wasted on things like movie rentals and ironing.
I have one now saving up for an X-box (or whatever is cool at the moment he decides to buy). This is both a bad thing (trying to limit his screen time) and a good thing (he's at school all day so my screen time can be outrageous!)
Someday... actually, in September, I will have a full two hours to myself once a week! What will I DO with two whole hours???
Oh, the porn. That would be a whole different list.

Pippa,
Okay. Wasn't sure if you were sending some sort of sub-text signal to your sleeper cell of Ricci fans or something in there.
Nope. Just being a dork.
Unfortunately, that would most likely include reruns of 21 Jump Street which I Did Not Like. Will have to put more thought into that.
I didn't really watch that show, from when he was young and girly looking. Maybe it could be the All Depp Movie Channel?
We rented a lot that first year. That's when we still pretended we could be grown-ups and have grown-up lives.
Ahahahahahahahahaaaa.....oh, you weren't kidding. We did nothing but try desperately to fit in more that 20 minutes of sleep at a time.
Now? My life is full of Wiggles and Little Einsteins and Backyardigans. And much begging to go see Curious George.
I have one now saving up for an X-box (or whatever is cool at the moment he decides to buy). This is both a bad thing (trying to limit his screen time) and a good thing (he's at school all day so my screen time can be outrageous!)
Otherwise, it's Kim Possible and the Fairly Odd Parents.
Yes, but no pr0n. My husband would most likely argue that since Jenna Jameson converts so many adult film actresses to the other team, that's true romance.
Oh, the porn. That would be a whole different list.

I did say Christina (and why did I not give her a last name? Who knows....) and I did mean Thora (and did give her a last name! Go me!). Oops! All fixed.
Okay. Wasn't sure if you were sending some sort of sub-text signal to your sleeper cell of Ricci fans or something in there.
I would like an all Depp category. Or maybe an all Depp channel. There should be room for that, right?
Unfortunately, that would most likely include reruns of 21 Jump Street which I Did Not Like. Will have to put more thought into that.
I don't know why we never got around to seeing it. I'll have to look at the release date - it might have come out during the Lost Year (you know, the one after the first baby is born).
We rented a lot that first year. That's when we still pretended we could be grown-ups and have grown-up lives. Now? My life is full of Wiggles and Little Einsteins and Backyardigans. And much begging to go see Curious George.

Yes, but no pr0n. My husband would most likely argue that since Jenna Jameson converts so many adult film actresses to the other team, that's true romance. :D
Amelie was in the auxiliary list!! It got bumped because I thought of it more as her story. But I love the movie and Audrey Tatou - we have her latest sitting here waiting to be watched.
And that's why I like it. She's not waiting around for a man to come to her.

Brian,
Even if you didn't have automatic credibility with me, the presence of Secretary, Harold and Maude, Ghost World, and Love and Death on Long Island would make the rest of these movies, by association, interesting to me. (Particularly Reese's debut, if only because she turned out to be so subtly odd.)
Reese's debut is awesome. Very sweet. Love and Death on Long Island is where I think to myself...I can't believe a movie with Jason Priestley is on my top ten anything list.....
But it is, and he's good!
Queue status: lengthened. Again.
Yay! Then I have succeeded!
True, i didn't like the Quiet American, feeling that Michael Caine was the only person who put any effort into the story. But if you want to give Vietnam credit for sitting there looking lovely even while people try to despoil it with bombs, i guess i can understand that.
Star - Michael Caine
Co-star - Vietnam

Okay, it's bad when they make you work so much you don't know what day it is. Not that I necessarily know what day it is, but mine is a willful ignorance.
Yes it is. I kept wanting to date stuff for 1-31 instead of 2-1 today. At least I think it is still the first right now.
I have no idea how hard it might be to find either one of those - I know Netflix has them - I bet Blockbuster has The Man in the Moon.
Ok. I'll do some looking. Maybe in a week or two.
So after tomorrow they'll cut you back to twelve hour days? So nice of them....;)
Technically I'm scheduled for 8 or maybe 9 hours. Not sure at the moment. But if it is busy, I'll be there later. Today was like 13 hours. I think. I have a feeling I'll be there later than 5 tomorrow. It gets busy in the afternoons, expecially after people get off work. I have 2 more days of going in at 8 am...yuck..then Saturday 9 to whenever pretty much. And finally off on Sunday. I think I'll be sleeping...alot. At this moment, I feel like I could sleep a month. Heading off to sleep here in a few minutes actually.
Those doughnuts better be chocolate. And filled.
The doughnut last week was just glazed..but still tasty. This morning one guy stopped at soem bakery and brought in doughnuts. He got 4 boxes of them I think it was. And there were creme filled. I just had to have one. Couldn't let the thing still there in the box and get stale you know. ;)
