Iím Pampered! -- Shopping at the Pampered Chef Online Store
Mar 30, 2009
I have been to Pampered Chef parties, but they are not my ideal buying situation. You are shown a bunch of cooking related items, everything from inexpensive to very expensive. Then the pressure is on to purchase at least something so that the party hostess has sales. That's why I prefer to shop at PamperedChef.com.
Navigating the Website
There are two ways go gain access to the shopping area on the Pampered Chef website. Number One: About two-thirds of the way down the home page is a Shop Online section with a Start Shopping button. Number Two: At the top of the home page is a button that says Products; click to shop at their store.
The shopping home page has a simple layout that is easy to navigate. If you know the item you are looking for (or know the item number), you can enter these in a search box to locate them.
Beneath the search box is a detailed category list. Some of the choices are: New!, Entertaining, Bamboo, Cutting Edge, Cookware, Kitchenware, Stoneware, Bakeware, Outdoor, Outlet Specials. Clicking one of these categories opens a new page with thumbnail images of the products, the name of the product, and the price. Click on an item to go to that product page.
Each product page features are larger image of the item, and the photograph can be enlarged again. Next to the image is an item number and the price. Beneath this is a description of the product. How many years the item is warranteed for is also included.
The website also has a Site Map. It's something like a Table of Contents in a book. I like Site Maps since they offer an easy way to find areas of interest at a glance. For instance, I was having trouble locating free recipes. The Site Map led me right to them. There is also a recipe search feature that allows one to find recipes by name, category, using specific ingredients, or even search for recipes that use specific cooking tools.
Shopping the Website - My Experiences
I knew what I wanted to buy. I own a few Pampered Chef products, but one of my favorites is their Mix ‘n Scrapers. I wanted to purchase a set for my mother as a gift. The Kitchenware category showed thumbnail images of the two scrapers. Opening each page, I was able to choose the quantity I wished to buy and then click "Add to Bag". The two different size scrapers sold for $14.50 and $12.50 each. Every time I add an item to the bag, the shopping bag page displays, showing me a running total of my order. From this page I can also adjust quantities or remove items.
Pampered Chef puts out a variety of products. I have used some of them (and family and friends have bought and used their products too), and I am impressed with how well the items are constructed and how long they last.
The Pampered Chef name also appears on items that only are available from them. The two Mix ‘n Scrapers are an example of that. Here is an idea of what they sell:
Bamboo Cheese Board -- $26.00
Barbecue Turner -- $17.50
Dripless Pourer/Stopper -- $10.00
Flour Sugar Shaker -- $6.00
Pastry Mat -- $29.00
Roasting Pan with Rack -- $155.00
Round Cooking Stone with Handles (medium size) -- $21.50
Saute Tongs -- $12.00
Stackable Cooling Rack -- $14.00
Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl Set (3 bowls with lids) -- $74.50
The website also sells a selection of mixes, rubs, and sauces. Some of their recipes use their special ingredients. For instance, they sell an All Purpose Dill Mix for $5.75, Beer Bread Mix for $9.00, Coarse Sea & Himalayan Salt for $5.75, Greet Rub for $4.00, Sweet Caramel or Cinnamon Sprinkles for $6.50, Ginger-Wasabi Sauce for $12.00, Spicy Pineapple-Rum Sauce for $12.00.
Checkout, Payment & Shipping
It's easy to checkout. Once you are finished shopping, click the View Shopping Bag link at the top of the page (it is in small print). From the new window that opens, you can review the order and then click Proceed to Checkout. This website does require one to create a customer account (either that or log-in as a consultant). After that, the website asks for the usual billing and shipping information.
Payment options are: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover credit cards.
Shipments occur within five business days if shipping somewhere in the United States (not including Alaska or Hawaii). Shipping options are Standard, Next Day, or Second Day Air. Using the Standard shipping rates, the more one buys, the more affordable shipping becomes. For instance, ordering up to $19.99 costs $6.25 for shipping, between $40.00 to 49.99 costs $9.25 shipping, between $65.00 to $129.99 costs $14.25 for shipping, buy $130.00 or more and shipping is 11-percent of the order total.
Once the order is placed, an email is sent verifying the order. A follow-up email is also sent saying the order has been shipped, and there is a link with the tracking number.
Receiving the Package
The package arrived in about a week via FedEx. I was worried, because I ordered the items about two weeks before the birthday party. The two Mix ‘n Scrapers arrived in a padded envelope. Each scraper was separately wrapped in its own plastic bag. The bags were printed with the item number and care instructions. Everything was in good condition.
I will definitely order from PamperedChef.com again. The shipping can be steep if only ordering a few items, but their merchandise is quality. I have never had anything break or fail to work. It's an excellent source for gift buying, too.
I hope you found this review useful.
