Around the time "Somewhere in Time" came out... (Reply to this comment)

there was another movie, "Time After Time," with Mary Steenburgen. It involved HG Wells going forward in time to try to apprehend Jack the Ripper, who had traveled to the future in the Time Machine to escape apprehension.
It was one of the most beautiful love stories I ever saw, and I remember thinking the Reeve/Seymour movie paled in comparison.

I've seen and liked a couple movies on your list, but it's especially nice to see Casablanca getting some love. Not that there aren't enough people out there who love it, but it's always good to know there's one more.
Wishing you a spectacular Valentines Day,
~Liz

But, like Robin, I will always love the Dr.Zhivago movie. Omar Shariff had the most beautiful and expressive eyes. I have seen most of the ones you mention, and I liked them all.
May your valentine's day be great.

Len has the really hard task of trying to find a birthday gift and a Valentine one too. This year I will settle for eating out. I think we have arrangements for almost every night that week.
Happy Valentines to one of my favorite couples.

I love your list, especially including Ever After and French Kiss! (Just a coincidence that four of your ten choices take place in a French locale?)
My favorite of all is Dr. Zhivago, which I think I am going to watch this week to get in the mood for Valentines Day...oh, those soulful eyes of Omar Sharif when he thinks of his Lara!!!
Fun list!!
Love,

you included some of the classics like Casablanca on your list, Barbara. I'm no expert in romance but that one definitely fills the bill. Another you might like is For Whom the Bell Tolls, with Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman, as I notice you mentioned Hemingway. Another might be Morocco, again Gary Cooper with one of my favorite femmes, Marlene Dietrich. Great job (as usual) !
