The Bottom Line It's the best damn diet ice tea out there ...
Being an iced tea junkie, it was inevitable that Id try Arizona Diet Green Tea With Ginseng. Id tried every other variety of their teas, both diet and regular, and really liked the taste of them. Chances are that if the cool graphics on the can hadnt caught my eye I would have stuck with the regular diet version but there was something so beautiful about the design and artwork that I had to pick up a can - if for nothing more than to check out the design a little closer I got hooked on this version after a local grocery store had them on sale for .75 cents a can. These normally sell for .99 cents so I decided to give it a try ... it was love at first taste. Chalk it up to a combination of clever marketing and a great price, however you have to rationalize it but I got hook on this stuff and have been addicted ever since. I normally drink fresh brewed stuff but I do stuck down a can or two of this a day when its really hot out. The taste is smooth and it really helps to quench your thirst - besides that - I dont have to brew a pot of tea and let it cool down. Arizona Diet Green Tea With Ginseng Even though this is a diet tea product it has an incredible taste to it and once you drink it, theres no nasty after taste to it. Sweetened with Splenda and a touch of honey this is one of the best diet green tea drinks on the market. The one thing that I do have to mention is that since this contains honey it is not a suitable product for diabetics to consume without first checking with their doctor. This is something that can also be consumed hot; just pour off a cup of it and pop it into the microwave for a minute or so and enjoy; since its already presweetened all you have to do it stir it a little and enjoy. Make sure that if you are going to drink this warm that you purchase the cans or bottles that are on the shelf, not the refrigerated ones. This will insure that you get the best taste from it. I like the bottles more than the cans because they can be resealed once they are opened but I do stock up on the cans when they are on sale. This contains no preservatives so make sure you refrigerate it once you have opened it. Sizes & Prices So far I have only seen this in three sizes; the 42 ounce plastic bottle, a 24 ounce glass bottle and the 23.5 ounce can. All of the cans that Ive purchased have been labeled with the Great Buy .99 cents price on them which is one of the reasons you wont find this at the over priced gas stations that rake you over the coals for beverages. They jack up the prices on everything and since these cans already have the price on them, they cant legally charge more. Oh sure they can put a price tag over it for whatever amount they want but no one that knows Arizona products will buy it. The 42 ounce plastic bottles sell for about $1.50 to $2.00 each but most of the time you can find them on sale for a little less. When my local grocery store has these on sale [both sizes] I stock up on them because I know that Ill eventually end up drinking all of them. Since no one else in the house likes the taste I know I wont run out unless I dont check to see how many are in the pantry - then its my own fault if I do run out. I never buy the glass bottles so I cant give you a price on those. The Artwork As I mentioned, if it werent for the artwork on the can I wouldnt have tried this out - well, eventually I would have but I was really attracted to the design, lettering and the ornate design that appears on the neckband of the bottle. The detail is on both the bottle and the can is incredible and something that really catches your eye. The label on the bottle is smaller and lighter than that of the can but the bottle has a very colorful Asian printwork pattern on it. Since there is more room on the can than the bottle you get a much clearer view of the kimono clad woman and lettering but you dont get the neckband design. This might seem like a rather strange thing to add to a review of a product but the artwork is just that striking and impressive. So much so that while I was drinking a bottle of this at the shop someone asked me if I could take part of the design and work it into an ankle band for them. Nutrition Some people have a grudge against Splenda and say that it is going to kill you if you consume it. If that were the case the government would have never allowed it to be mass produced or sold to the general public. The newer cans of this have the no carb advertisement around the top, something that I am sure will start to appear on the bottles soon enough. This is a calorie and carbohydrate free drink and one serving [8 ounces] contains only 20 milligrams of sodium. The cans contains about three servings and the bottles approximately five. The ingredients include premium brewed green tea [brewed in filtered water], honey, citric acid, sucralose [Splenda] and ginseng extract. The Bottom Line If you are someone that likes green tea then this is definately something that you should check out the next time you are at the grocery store. You can enjoy it hot or cold, its priced right and the taste is phenomenal. If youd like more information about this or any of the Arizona products you can contact them at their toll free number: [800] TEA-3775 (800-832-3775). Theyll be able to give you further nutritional information, tell you where you can purchase Arizona products or answer any questions you may have about the product. The kids dont really like the taste of it and say that it needs more sugar but the adults that have tried it all agreed that the taste is smooth but not watered down and since its carb and calorie free, its something that even those on a diet can enjoy! As always, thanks for the read! ~^V^~ Freak ~^V^~ © 2006 Freak369 |
